Why do I keep getting matched with people more skilled than me?
First of all, I have only played one ranked match this season (at the time of writing), so I am not yet ranked. Last season I ended in Silver (2 or 3 if I remember correctly). However, even though time has passed and I have played since then, I would guess I still play at a Silver (or Bronze at times) level. Additionally, my home internet connection is not amazing, so while normally I sit around 130 ping, I frequently have jumps to over 1000.
I play this game to have fun. In fact, the only reason I did ranked games last season was for any rewards I could get. I don't usually enjoy playing ranked matches because people get mad for virtually any reason, but that's beside the point. I'm the type of person who likes to play what is fun, rather than what is good. I play a lot of Shaco and Teemo, and I frequently get comments about my builds (I'll include them below), generally negative. I use the builds I do because for me, they make the champion more fun, or make the part of the champion I like better. Because of this (stubbornness, in a way I guess), and the fact that I am not very good at the game mechanically (I frequently can't pull off combos as fast as I could in my head, I play with locked camera, I'm bad at CSing, etc), I would guess that I play at a low-Silver level.
I enjoy the game the most when I can do my "fun things" in a game and still be able to keep the playing field at least level. I don't really care about winning, but it's just not fun if your lane opponent is so oppressive that you can't even compete. I like it when I have some freedom in my options.
Here's where the issue arises. Recently, I've been getting matched with higher ranked players, frequently Gold and Platinum (for example, I just played a game where I got matched with 4 Platinum players on my team, so I'd guess that there were some Platinum players on the other team too). In this type of scenario, I can no longer have fun in lane. I try to play like I used to, but my lane opponent will take advantage of every little thing I've done that would give them an advantage (unlike in lower tiers where people are less likely to notice). Now I've got to play "right" (or whatever) by carefully watching my CS, being extremely careful about positioning, trying to get poke in while avoiding returning poke, etc. But having to "try hard" (as some people put it) isn't fun! I play League to relax, and I don't want to have to be super concentrated on every detail. However, if I don't "try hard" when faced against a stronger player, I'll just end up feeding and that's no fun as well!
Finally, I know that being faced with tougher opposition means I'm "getting better" at the game (in an ideal situation I guess). But I don't want to get better! If I'm better, I'll be facing other better players, and I can't do the silly stuff I used to. For example, it was a ton of fun to keep up a chase as Shaco. When you're fairly low on health, you let an enemy see you. Naturally they'll want the kill, so they'll try to catch you. Instead of making a clean escape, if you keep staying just within their vision range, or give clues to where you are, you can keep up a chase for minutes, allowing your team to push objectives while your opponents are all chasing you! (A similar thing works with Teemo but involves keeping up a trail of shrooms) Of course, this kind of thing only works at lower levels of play, WHICH IS WHERE I WANT TO BE (and think that I am).
What do you think is a solution, or is the problem just with me? I'm not doing so great "in real life" at the moment, so I like to use games to escape, but it's pretty bad when the games start to turn sour too.
And I know some of you will hate me for this post; think what you want, but I don't think I'm exaggerating anything. I'll try to answer any questions. Thanks.
Build (Jungle):

The idea with this build is to have a lot of mobility while also being able to splitpush quickly, and assassinate someone if necessary).

The idea with this build is to maximize the number and power of the shrooms to provide vision and damage all around the map (or to keep areas safe such as around Baron).
Also most games I can't see the end of game stats screen; I instead see the "Skip Waiting for Stats" button. If I wait a few seconds, I get a PVP.net timed out message. After that, no matter how long I wait, it always stays on "Skip Waiting for Stats." But that's a bug for another day.
