hello everyone, I would like to suggest to you today that Riot is establishing a Hawaiian server to the West Coast of the USA, the Hawaiian and all those who have too much ping the Oceanic server, the example of europe serrveur Eastern and Western Europe. thank you for sharing your opinions.
Zielmann5 votesIt sucks to have to be stuck with a bunch of relatively bad ping options for servers. Unfortunately, the playerbase that such a server would, er... serve... is far too small to be worthwhile. This is the whole reason that East and West NA servers weren't the solution for NA as a whole, too. A lot of people don't realize it, but Europe's total population is about 200 Million higher than North America's. That is a large part of why it was viable to split Europe into two servers.

It's almost 2400 miles from the nearest point in California (mind you that is only 300 miles less than the width of the entire continental united states). Californians would still have better ping to the new Chicago servers. It's almost double that distance to Australia, so it wouldn't serve them well, either. And at 3800 miles from Japan, it won't help them at all.

Sure a server in every household would be ideal, but frankly a hawaiian server is highly impractical from a macro-view. Sorry to be negative, but i wouldn't cross your fingers on this one.
FoBaYzZeR3 votesMan, you're just right, their is so many people who can't play correctly in their region, even turkey has a server and it's a country and us we are maybe 5 countries who have a ping as 150 maybe more, me i have 200 ping in good conditions very poor connection on NA server now before that was 160 and on Oceania my region i have 330 ping so i hope we can soon play correctly thx bro, thx riot for help us

TurquoiseYoshi2 votesIf you mean splitting the servers into NA West and NA East, then we'd have to get rid of the Chicago server because it's too central for the east. And tons of people hate that idea even without that.
If you mean putting one in Hawaii, then that's never gonna happen. Riot doesn't have one in Japan or Africa yet, and those are much, much larger markets than Hawaii (population-wise).

However, there is a large enough population to make a west coast server worth.

I live in French Polynesia, the lowest ping you could get was 120 and that's when the server was still in LA. Now that the server moved to Chicago, it's at least 180, and that's on good days.
I personally play with at least 220pings. And on OCE it's even worse.

And while there is a "lot" of players in Polynesia, there's even more on the west coast.
Kaiona1 votesThere's a much bigger difference between the ping you get on the West Coast than the ping you get in the Pacific area. I lived on the East Coast for a while (2 years) and visited the West Coast several time before, and the ping was much lower than what I have now. (60 on the West Coast and 110 on the East Coast before the server moved)
Daedalus8711 votesSo you can put can put a server in Hawaii, which would probably be used only Polynesia minus New Zealand. That's a population of about 2 million people.
Or you can put a server on the west coast, which will serve pretty much everything west of the Rockies, including Polynesia, which is a population of about 65 million. Not to mention a west coast server will be cheaper per person, because we have power and space, two things that are hard to find on an island.
Randomonium1 votesI lived in Hawaii for a year and my ping was always in the 90s playing on the NA server. If you're seeing higher then that then it's probably an issue with your connection, not Riot.
Furthermore, I don't think there's enough players on the islands to warrant a new server. It's a pretty huge cost both for hardware and maintenence. On top of this, the low player base would result in long queue times or unfair matchmaking.

It was mostly because of our bad internet provider at first, but even now that we have a fiber optic connection (from Hawaii), it's still really high. I personally play with 220pings, and that's on a good day.
We can't play on OCE either because our ping on this server is actually higher than on NA (I have an account on OCE). Turkey has a server, there's a South East Asia serve too, and Japan is getting a server apparently too.
Randomonium1 votesThere are A LOT more gamers in South East Asia, Turkey, and Japan then in French Polynesia. Believe me, if the player base was there Riot would do it. If they tried to do it now the queue times would be insanely long and the match making would be infuriating.

Having some kind of relay or moving the server back to the West Coast would help us more. Or improve OCE then, because I started playing on it when it was still beta and it's still not very enjoyable..

Kaiona1 votesNot even. There's the OCE server already and the ping on it is higher than on NA. (I play on both servers: usually around 220 pings on NA (the lowest I can get is 180pings) and 300 pings on OCE)

Kaiona1 votesHawaii is pretty much between Japan and the NA server. (4,194 miles for Hawaii-Chicago and 4,105 miles for Hawaii-Japan) Adding to that the difference of language, I don't think Hawaiian player would start playing on the Japanese server.
MegaManYYZ1 votesyou're bouncing through less hubs from Hawaii to Japan than Hawaii to Chicago, which would make it faster still... the connection from Hawaii to Chicago would have to bounce through California and a couple of hubs before it even gets to Chicago slowing it down a lot more than a straight shot to Japan.

Chiwi1 votesTo be honest, we are only a few gamers playing to League of Legend in tahiti, maybe 1k at least. But i think a new server located to hawaii would attract more and more players. Most of pacific's gamers want to play to League but due to high ping, they don't play for long and quit as they find another MOBA with less ping. Building up a hawaiian server would be such a great news for us.
Please RIOT make our dream come true.
