Summoner Name Change RP vs IP?

I'm not trying to complain that the prices for both are pretty high up, especially the IP price (there is not a champion or skin in all of the game that costs that much.) I, personally, feel that $5 for a simple word change IS too expensive. But I'm trying to figure out if it's worth all those hours to pay for such. I regularly only play intermediate Co-op vs. AI modes, because my mouse is cheap and I'd rather not be screwed up by it in an actual round. Anyways, I want to change my name because 1: It's kind of long for this game. 2: It was the name of a character that I created in a different game that the friend who introduced me to LoL played with me. I also didn't know what else to use because he was being impatient.

So, would it be more worth it to pay $5 for a name change, or spend literal hours upon hours farming IP? Because, even if I don't make very much money at my job, time has waaaay more value to me. But at the same time I feel like a name, though it is your identity that you get known by on here, is not worth $5. Simply because it's words floating over your head, which isn't as much of a luxury to me as having a fancy skin is. Thanks for any of your opinions on the matter! Again, not trying to complain about the price. I understand their business strategy for that. Obviously people don't want to work for twice the time it would take to get almost 2 (newer) champions just for a name. Anyway, thanks for any of your thoughts!

P.S. I'm Level 26, and I've bought RP before for skins/champs. And I've been a LoL member, with only this account, since about December 2012. So I'm not exactly going to make a new account just to change my name. Just wanted to get that info up, in case somebody would suggest just making a new one. I would if I hadn't spent RP and all that time. Also, I only am able to play on the weekends and maybe one or rounds during the week days. Which is why the IP would take a while for me.

(Apologies if this is in the wrong board, I never really post on these.)

Honestly I think it depends on what you want on the account, and what you like about playing league. Been a few seasons since I was sub 30, but honestly if it wasn't for ranked I wouldn't still play. I like having a concrete measure of trying to get better, and it feels really good when I improve. I just had riot delete at least half the champs on my account since I didn't play them any more and wanted a better shot at getting something I want if/when they give out mystery skin rewards again. If you're like that and don't really have a ton of stuff you want to buy still w/ IP I'd save the money and just wait. It won't kill you to have a name you don't like for a while, and you can change it before you hit 30.

On the other hand, I think I paid for the name change on my original account, and there are still things I want to buy (spell vamp quints for mundo jungle, just can't justify 6k IP till I have enough rune pages to not have to bump something off the list so I can have a page for one champ) so I don't mind having spent the money.

My advice at the end of the day would be save the five bucks, and maybe do some side work for someone you know or be a little frugal at the groceries for a week or two and come up with a couple spare bucks to buy a better mouse. Eventually you'll out grow bots (I know when I hit the second or fourth penta in a bots game while I'm trying to push and end fast I'm ready to be done w/ the game already and am kinda bored, but hey first win of the day in 15 min is nice) and the mouse will probably matter more than the name change. (Although I suppose this isn't really an option since you already bought the IP, but the point still holds, think about what you'd rather buy with it. I'm saving my RP currently for when the skins for my main champ go on sale so I can pick up the ones I don't have in as cheap a manner as possible.)

Wanna know the easiest way to farm IP without spending money and breaking no rules?

Forget about it.

Seriously, just play the game without a specific purchase in mind for a few weeks. Ignore your IP. It won't feel like a grind if you're not focusing on it, and it adds up pretty easily. Play for fun, play for practice, play for both. Before you know, it you'll have 5 figure IP and you can use it on expensive stuff.

In my opinion it depends on how badly you want a name change! I'm sure the reason behind it being so high in IP is because they don't want people to keep making new names. I've known people who tried to keep changing their name so that they think it won't detect them when people report them.

So I would say if you really want a name change just buy it with rp. If you can wait just use ip, it shouldn't take that long assuming you play daily!
