Which programming language(s) does Riot use to make their game?
I'm also wondering if any of the languages have changed due to the new client update.

Here's an article blog post to first look at. This is the "out of game" client only, not the "in-game" client. https://engineering.riotgames.com/news/architecture-league-client-update
I remember reading somewhere that the new cleint uses html css and javascript.
Can't help u with the old client or the game.
My guess would be like C++ but don't trust me

I heard that C++ is used to create the core game on another thread

Ayy so my guess was pretty gud :)
Honestly, all the articles here are awesome, but here is a couple other interesting ones: https://engineering.riotgames.com/news/chat-service-architecture-protocol and https://engineering.riotgames.com/news/behind-leagues-new-missile-system
Do you know if the programming language to create the game changes in any way or is it still the same as it was a while back?
Likely the in-game code has not changed as significantly as the client has (choosing an entirely different platform and rewriting from scratch). I'll let a red be the source of truth though. I am not a Riot employee/engineer, just a fellow software engineer.
