Lets talk about the Sightstone on solo laners/ jungler

item 2049 Buying this item after your core and obviously you're not the support/ADC What do you think about it? In which cases is this viable? Does anyone have this as a standard for certain games?

(Just in case, this is my smurf in NA, I play on the LAN server, pls no ragerino/haterino, I'm curious of your answers)

I think sightstone on a jungler is a good thing to have. When I'm playing lanes, I typically just use my trinket and buy some wards and maybe a pink. I know that I do not ward as much as I should, but I'm low elo so no one does lol. Also, I typically only put much effort into warding if getting ganked is a problem. It is nice on junglers, though, since supports cannot effectively ward enough of the map.

Maybe the jungler is the most solid case in which you can buy it.

Any thoughts about the mid an top?

If you're having troubles with ganks, then a sightstone is probably a good way to go. If you are carrying your team, probably don't want to waste the money on it.

Junglers with a lot of map mobility and/or counterjungling speed is definitely amazing to have.

Not to mention, now you're near guaranteed to have at least 6 wards on the map at a given time vs only 3.

I main mid, and something that I LOVE is dropping a Ward on the enemy red, and wait. Then they go for it. I like to go for the kill and the buff, I usually play AD assassins, so this helps me a LOT. But in that case, I don't find effective to buy a sightstone.

I'm curious about the specific cases in which a mid laner could buy it and make it cost effective. Any thoughts about this?

Well back when I played Master Yi mid (Don't ask(Actually, go ahead and ask)) I tend to find that when I snowball out of control, I have a lot of gold to spend.

I say that if you are so far behind that you need the vision to help create picks, or when you are so far ahead you have too much gold anyway, I'd say it's worth.

In general though, extended vision is only useful if you can capitalize on it. Only the midlaners who are mobile on a map level or if your play style involves leaving lane a lot should you even begin to consider it.

That helps a lot, thanks!

Btw, the only way I could play master yi is on an ARAM and can't reroll lol Now, why Master Yi? xD

It would be beautiful if as a toplaner i could figure out how to effectively put a sightstone in my build early and it not put me behind. Basically if top lane and bottom lane had a sightstone you would always have vision of the entire mid river. It would be beautiful. I think if anything many toplaners would be able to do it better than the midlane, as most have the most maneuverability.

It's a bad idea if you're a damage carry. The hp is wasted since ideally you shouldn't be taking much, if any, damage at all. You need to use about 11 wards before the SS pays for itself, and 800 gold now is more valuable than 800 gold later.

If you're a jungler, winning fights generally comes down to "it's a 2v1" rather than "we have better items than you," so sightstones can be pretty solid on junglers. That said, if you're picking up most of the kills as a jungler and your teammates are only getting assists at best, you want to build damage to snowball your lead since your teammates won't be able to get the same advantage that you can.

As I said in the first post, "you're not the support/ADC"

About the other case, that's actually one that I don't know the right decision.

If you're getting fed alone, ganking and having all the kills, you're going to be able to carry your team, but if the rest of your team is like 1/10/30, they're gonna have a bad time on team fights and probably the entire enemy team is going to be able to 5vs5 your team, even if you build full DPS. In that case, isn't better just spend 800g and help your team with wards, to catch the enemy off guard and forcing 4v5 or 3v5 for turrets or drake/baron ?

Of course, if you can 5v5 them, maybe building full DPS is the way to go, but, if you can't?

You should never be taking the kills as jungler unless there is no way the lane will get them.

TDeadFather1 votes

That's partially true, but what do you think of what I wrote before?

30 assist will get you a lot of gold. Also, if they have 30 assist, that means that multiple people on your team are pretty fed lol, unless one person has all 30 kills. Also, if you can convince your team to all stay together when needed, warding shouldn't be that big of an issue, depending on elo. So many variables to your question xD

TDeadFather1 votes

hehe yes, maybe I went a little too far being specific that leave a bunch of variables alone :p But in general, I'm the one fed but **we can't **5v5 because I'm fed alone and my team pretty much had died over and over...

Shall I go full DPS or spend a slot for that sightstone and maybe try to do something for my team in the match, catching targets alone and force 3v5...

Does this sounds to you like a good idea?

If your team is unintelligent enough to be 1/10, a sighstone won't help you out lol.

inb4 sightstone on jungle Lee Sin. Did you ever watch Worlds and see their new ward meta?? 5 trinkets. Then Jungler and Support with Sightstone. Then sell trinket for four freaking sweepers. Like wow. Then ADC sells trinket for Scrying Orb. The only thing they did all match, was place 120 wards and destroy 40 wards per match. Warding>Fighting. Ward to win. lol. So many wards and sweepers. I thought of trying that, but not sure if it'd work in solo/duo ranked queue. "Hey guys. I'll also get a sightstone so 3 of you get sweepers". Depends if they'd listen or not.

Actually I start this thread because last night I was in a ranked game with some guys that literally refuse to buy wards, even the support. I was like a crazy begging them to buy wards and place them. This happens even in gold - LAN and it makes me really sad...

In fact, there was a teemo on my team and said that there was no need of warding due his shrooms... We had a 9k gold lead and lost that game...

I was pretty upset... Then i saw that I had bought 25 wards and thought... I wish I had buy a sightstone instead...

Oh. That. Yeah, if you're going to be the one doing all the warding, even if you're top and mid, then sightstone would be fine. Cause wards saves lives. Some just have no map awareness though.

I kind of like the concept of making it more valuable to non supports, because it is a good item. Mostly, it seems only like it would be worth getting on utility junglers right now, and not even that much considering that two jungle items already give free wards. Overall I'd like to see it made a better option, but right now it just isn't that amazing.

a team that has 2-3 sight stones late game will have a huge advantage over a team that does not, they will have maphacks pretty much, only problem is this is solo q.
