Muting Everyone Before the Game Starts

I've played League of Legends for about a year now. I started playing it since the start of this season and I had just got to Gold in under 20 matches this month! I've played a ton of games and I thought LoL was fun for awhile, but a really big downside of the game is the people who you play it with. It's evident that the game has a horrible community and that there isn't any happiness to be found in most League games. It's painful to be forced into a game and, after 20 minutes, you feel like you're in a small room with four screaming monkeys trapped with you. I've come across games that have really emotionally impacted me in a negative way where people like to say the most evil things without a hint of care in their words. So I came to a thought:

would it be reasonable if I just mute everyone before the game starts? It's a better alternative than having to feel pain. I can just use pings, right?

You probably have a more peaceful experience that way but I think you should do it more reactionary like the first negative thing someone says should be an indication for mute or if somebody says something negative in the champion select. They're pretty interesting conversations that can occur sometimes and you might miss out on that if you go in meeting at the beginning of every match

Aye, I operate a 2-strike system: one negative comment is excusable, but after the second - get muted son.

No. Is muting a good thing to do? Of course, if someone is absolutely just being a douchebag and spewing fire mute them. They will just make you play worse. Some people really do have good advice to give, and if you mute them at the very beginning of the game you will not get a chance to hear that.

I think what everyone says is a fair idea. But it's really been a depressing time playing league and I haven't come across any people who have anything good to say.

That's why I mute. It does bother me after hundreds of different strangers act that way in each game. It's despair-inducing.

I mute a lot of the time

I try to wait as long as possible before it starts to affect my mood, because it's important to be able to maintain my mood in a game, it's kinda like training lol xD

It would be nice if Riot added a feature that shows if someone has muted someone else. It would help people that don't want toxicity ever, and would let players know that they have to ping for you to notice.

yea like a counter on your profile that tells you how many times you've been muted and banned, and then a percentile or something so you know how you compare to the average of anyone who's played as long as you.

I meant more so that teammates would know that you're muted, so they know they have to ping for them to hear you.

THIS. This would be great. There was a time where we had a teammate who wouldn't stop harassing a girl on our team. It was pretty early on but I muted him. He ganked us and the gank failed miserably. He could have made better use positioning or the ping system. I should have better anticipated his actions. But in the end, I think what killed us was that I muted him. He didn't know that I muted him, so if he DID know maybe he WOULD have made use of the ping system.

I give everyone a chance before I mute. The first sign that they give me that they are just another one of those assholes, they join the rest on the mute / block lists. If you're not going say anything constructive to help win, why say it?
