Muting Everyone Before the Game Starts

I've played League of Legends for about a year now. I started playing it since the start of this season and I had just got to Gold in under 20 matches this month! I've played a ton of games and I thought LoL was fun for awhile, but a really big downside of the game is the people who you play it with. It's evident that the game has a horrible community and that there isn't any happiness to be found in most League games. It's painful to be forced into a game and, after 20 minutes, you feel like you're in a small room with four screaming monkeys trapped with you. I've come across games that have really emotionally impacted me in a negative way where people like to say the most evil things without a hint of care in their words. So I came to a thought:

would it be reasonable if I just mute everyone before the game starts? It's a better alternative than having to feel pain. I can just use pings, right?
