Why Does Everybody Hate Teemo?

Hey, I have played league for about a month now but I still don't understand why everybody hates Teemo. I know people hate on him because of his poison but why else. Poison is what makes up his character and I don't know why that is bad. I guess hes "Satan" to most people but in my opinion hes just a regular champion. I don't know whats so bad about him.Teemo

He's just so FRUSTRATING. He's not good, and everyone knows that, but the high slow/medium damage on his traps makes WALKING a chore. His blind is super frustrating to play against for anyone who does anything with auto attacks, ever, his waning pattern is frustrating because its basically auto-blind-run away, which again is hard to deal with because that fucking blind stops a lot of the counter play to it for a lot of champions.

As a Teemo main of well over a year, I don't understand either. There are so many champions that are way more annoying than Teemo. Fizz, in my opinion, is much more annoying. Teemo CAN outplayed with mild difficulty. Fizz goes around one-shotting people.

Pretty simple. It all started back in Season 1, where his shrooms lasted 10 minutes, did alot of damage. If Teemo was fed, a single shroom could instakill anyone with no MR items.

Slowly as the hatred grew because of the players inability to build and counter Teemo smartly, he became weaker, getting nerfed over and over again.

Six season later, the hatred still exists like an abused crappy meme and players STILL complain about it despite Teemo barely being in the meta thanks to the buffs from the mage update, which made him BARELY playable in high elo up to this day.

And even when Teemo isn't that much of a threat, people would still rather see them dead or gone than admiting not being good dealing with him. And even those who know how to deal with Teemo still think it's annoying, which again is false.

The fact that Riot feeds this bad meme just makes it worse, both in crappy skins like Omega Squad, facebook posts about giving players the chance to delete him (Which failed, thank God...) and making some evil reference in the patch notes.

TL;DR, only idiots hate Teemo, a champion just like any other, due to the ammount of toxicity in the comnunity.

It is more or less a meme now, veterans make use it as a joke, noobs actually gets rekt by teemo, and everyone else just follows the veterans like sheeps.

More than anything else, it's because he's a nightmare to lane against. The poison on his AAs and his Q blind give him a strong edge when trading and make it easier for him to last hit, the speed boost on his W makes him difficult to engage on (especially for immobile champions, like most juggernauts), and his mushrooms make it incredibly difficult to safely gank his lane, as well as providing him with some decent waveclear. Come mid-late game, Teemo becomes incredibly effective at shutting down roaming and guarding objectives. He may not be much use in teamfights without a Runaan's, but he provides top-tier map control that--given the limits on pink wards and red trinkets--is very difficult to work around.

Cause he's an exceptionally easy counter to most melee top laners, people don't know how to deal with him.

Teemo is just a nuisance if anything. Its not hard its just annoying. Like laning against a yorick.

Well on the one hand it is because of his backstory that implies that he is rather emotionless and not completely sane, despite his cute appearance,on the other hand there is the fact that his kit simply tends to be frustrating for his enemies: -His passive means that you might run around when suddenly a teemo pops out of nowhere to kill you -His Q is really annoying if you are an auto-attack reliant champ because you might be just a few attacks away from killing him,but then you die because you were blinded -His W makes him hard to catch(especially in the early days where mobility was a bit rarer) and makes it difficult to escape him -His E means you might come out of a fight thinking you survived only to see your health drop down anyway -His Ult is likely the biggest reason of them all, since you can get killed by pretty much anywhere, likely without any warning.

And well then there is the fact that he always has this smug grin on his face...

Though keep in mind that the whole "teemo is satan"-thing is mostly a joke that simply turned into a meme,it shouldn't be taken THAT seriously

It might be that at the time of his release he was a nightmare to deal with. Ranged, the first blind in the game, the first poison in the game (applied through ranged basic attacks no less), and the first champion with invisible traps in the game. He was new in a lot of frustrating ways, and I imagine he would have been nightmarishly irritating to deal with on release.

My guess is that all of those new frustrating mechanics gave him a bad reputation out of the gate, and as a result he's become something of a running joke in the League community when it comes to evil and irritation.

I just thought of all this in the last 5 minutes, so I might be wrong. Still, this is the theory that I'm going with. I hope I helped.

If he is on the enemy team it's because he is annoying. He's this unavoidable roadblock between you and where you want to go. Sure you can kill him, but his presence is still felt because of those damn mushrooms. He is renowned for his ability to zone the enemy and instill fear of where he will show up next.

On your team he really doesn't give anything incredibly useful for the team. His damage output is subpar, he offers little to no utility, he's not an objective-focused champion, he's squishy and isn't designed to be a team fighter. He's just... there. Being annoying and trying to be just annoying enough to distract the enemy team into making mistakes that he then exploits and relies on his team to focus an objective now that he has given them an advantage of sorts.
