Shen Does Use Swords People

Shen, as many people have agreed upon, uses Ninjato. Those people, however, fail to realize that Ninjato are JAPANESE SWORDS. The ninjato (忍者刀, ninjatō), also known as ninjaken (忍者剣) or shinobigatana (忍刀), is the most common name for the sword that the ninja of feudal Japan are portrayed to have carried in movies, on television, and in numerous books written by modern ninjutsu practitioners including Masaaki Hatsumi and Stephen K. Hayes.

While I was originally telling this to a family member of mine who plays league, they said that Shen's Ninjato were not long enough to be considered swords. A Ninjato is around 2 feet in length on average, and while it doesn't look that long in game, in his splash art you will see that it is.

In japan's traditional sense, sword and blade are the same thing.

Sword was made to stab, blade was made to cut. Japanese made their blades able to do both, hence for them swords and blades are the same thing.

Wrong, blade is the part of a tool or weapon that holds the edge.

A sword has a blade, attached to a handle. An axe also has a blade.

European swords are mostly made to stab and chop, Japanese blades are made to stab and cut.

English isn't my first language, sorry, I should say I meant Dao, which only existed to cut and slash.

In Chinese (Japanese shares a strong cultural relationship with China), "劍/剣" is something you mostly stab people with, "刀" is something you cut/slash people with. To Japanese, they both mean the same thing is what I am getting at (since they made blades able to do both).

Anyways. I can be wrong on this one.
