EVG Tournaments, are they legit?

Are these EVG tournaments actually legit ? a guy told me that you have to sign up for a tourney on a teamspeak server, if you win you get rp. He also said riot gives these prizes out. Is it true or are they just trying to steal my account ?

Lol it's true, I have won a few, and gotten a decent amount of RP, and a few times they messed up and gave me way more RP than I shoud have gotten. Idk if they will give out RP though, Riot recently said they were stopping this.
