Have I Hit my Skill Cap at League?

I recently had an exceptionally frustrating match. Although my team had won, I had done nothing but slow them down the entire game. Simply put, I felt like I was trash. I have spent so much time on this game (1869 hours as of now source: http://wasted-on-lol.com/stats/na/dragonkingx/) yet I still play so badly. I do not understand why I am not improving at the game, even though I spend all this time on it. I am currently Silver 5 and have been for the past year now, with extremely consistent ranked play (all of my matches are mostly ranked games). Practicing and spending a lot of time honing my skills does not seem to be helping me at all (very oddly). I play at the same exact skill level as I did a year ago, even with so much extra experience. Have I hit my skill cap? Am I playing the game incorrectly? What can I do to actually improve at this game? These are all questions I am hoping you guys could help me answer, so that I can get back to grinding. TL;DR: I am very frustrated at my lack of improvement at this game although I have spent so much time practicing and refining my ability at league, what am I doing wrong that is impairing my ability to get better?

There's always times where people question not only themselves but the ability they have to play this game. That being said, there is always plateaus that you must overcome to progress. The same applies to real life with things like diets and/or working out, so naturally I figured this is the case.

To overcome obstacles, you can sometimes assess them yourself and work through them over time, but in some cases it's better if you get help from others or try out advice that they may give to help you improve so I decided to check your match history and try to figure out what's going on.

Sure enough, it's exactly what I thought. In my opinion, you're being weighed down by your lack of consistency in what role and what Champion's you're playing.

Your history is literally a mixed bag. I see Top Lane, Jungle, Mid, ADC and Support.

I hate to say it my friend, but trying to be a 'Jack of all Trades' doesn't really get you too far in ranked.

My suggestions to improve your game to climb are these:

  1. Pinpointing what role you want to main (Whichever you feel you perform the best at and/or have the most fun doing) and choose a secondary role as a backup just in case the first is taken.
  2. Focus on mastering these roles as much as possible if you don't already have the fundamentals down. (I noticed that your warding is a bit lackluster, so that would be a good place to focus a bit more on)
  3. After you select your main roles, choose a handful of Champions to focus on to master them. I'd say 3-4 would be a solid number. (Try to keep in mind that you want at least a couple that aren't the hot top priority bans so you don't have to worry about losing them)
  4. Practice getting those Champions down to a Tee. Attack speeds, animations, CSing, mana costs, ect. (Because if you play a lot of different Champs constantly, it inhibits you from being good with a few because they all attack differently/have different stats/ect.)
  5. If possible, you may want to choose Champions that can be fit for multiple roles if necessary. (Like one of mine is Pantheon. He can be taken Top, Jungle and in some cases Mid Lane if I'm ever put in those positions)

These are just my suggestions on what I think you should do if you want to climb based on what I seen in your history.

If you put in the time and effort, I'm certain it will pay off well for you.

Also sorry for the long post.
