I just bought the 10 boxes and keys. iam not sure how this is supposed to be discounted like riot said but it seems to me like it cost more to use it or around the same to just buy the skin you want direct??? perhaps iam using this wrong or dont fully understand it but iam not trying to bitch id just like other players thoughts on weather this is a good deal to buy or just a waste of 2000 rp and nothing to show for it.
ModWulf Helhammer3 votesCrafting isn't supposed to be a deal (particularly when you buy the chests rather then earn them). It's just a fun way to unlock stuff without actually having to spend money. They said so themselves in the FAQ that the fastest and best way to get a specific skin is still to buy it directly

That was from the HTC page from riot. So i thought it would be a deal but i got nunu bot skin shard from a box and it costs 1520 essence to permanently unlock so id have to disenchant almost every skin shard i got to get that skin permanently. I see what your saying though it prolly is best to just earn it because it cost more to use hextech crafting to buy the skin.

Levyathyn1 votesI bought a bunch of chests, and honestly, I spent several thousand RP and I'm happy with what I got. The random made it fun, and somewhat risky, but once I cash in all of what I've got, the end result will be quite a bit more than I put in, and I like most of the skins I got. But the purchased chests are bonus. The real value is in earning them.

The idea is to earn chests through play, hence what you get from them is free. They have extra chests/keys available for if you have one or the other and want to finish off an item that you have materials for just sitting around in your crafting store.
