Choosing your role.

I don't know if this has been a topic talked about before or not, but lately I have been having problems with this issue. The issues is choosing your role/lane.

Has it maybe occurred to some people to maybe have a system to where you choose your respective role/lane before you que?

Now I know I'm not a "Pro" gamer or what not but I love to play LoL casually and sometimes most of my friends are not able to party up with me and what not. So I'm usually forced to solo que and hope for the best. It seems though, no matter how many games I play, I get into the same argument every time. "I called top first!", "Well I'm just going to do what I want.", etc.

Now of course I'm well aware of the issues that will present it's self if we did have a system like this, such as longer ques for roles that have a higher play ability. But most of the time I'm stuck waiting in ques forever anyways because someone decided to leave during Champion Selection because they didn't get their role. I feel like there would be a lot more cooperation from the team if they weren't already arguing at each other before the game even started on which lane they wanted to be in and their argument about how good they are at it.

Like I said, I don't know if this has been a topic that had already been brought up or not and I'm fully open to any disagreements on the issues because I would like to know, if it has been brought up, why has it not been executed.

I may appear as just some guy who is just "QQing" because I don't get things my way and some people might think I should just accept it and play the game or get more friends, but this issues keeps me from enjoying the game, and most of my other friends play DOTA2, but I just prefer LoL.

Like it, hate it, I don't care, I just want to hear some opinions. Thanks

When I first started playing, I'd play every champ I could in their free week, just to start getting acquainted with abilities and the different flavors of champions. I found out that I couldn't play assassins to save my life, that I loved being an unkillable Mundo, and that Heimerdinger is my favorite champ in all the world. Eventually you find champs where the things you naturally want to do are the best things for that champ do. Your champ pool plays a big part of which roles you ask for in queue, though with jungling, your map awareness and planning make a huge difference in how successful you are at helping your team.

That being said, once you actually get into champ select, it can be a mess, especially when some people aren't interested in talking about things. There's a new mode called Team Builder being developed that's basically built to avoid a lot of the rotten stuff that happens in champ select. One person is captain and they pick what roles they want on the team, everybody else chooses and champ and role before queueing up. There's a lot of red posts on it from some time ago, mostly by Lyte and davin. It'll probably be a good while yet before it goes live, but it does eliminated the afk Vayne mid who's sulking about his duo not getting bot.

Honestly, there have been plenty of days where I've been support as 4th or 5th pick when I was hoping to be something else, and sometimes I've filled and you could really tell that this was not a champ/role where I was going make any hero plays. Team Builder has MMR by role, so if you're an amazing Renekton main but a bad mid, you don't have to worry about having skills way below your team when you go with a role where you need work.

tl:dr This mode is on the way, it's called Team Builder. It's going to be months before it'll be on live since it's only gotten a couple short times on PBE, but it's coming.
