Discussion about the term "mana"...

So I have a serious problem with the term "mana." Adopting a masculine prefix to an imaginary term is really toxic and problematic. I know a lot of you are going to be really hurtful and mean, but the term "man" in something like this CAN trigger people. I want other proud Wymyn like myself to stand with me and see if we can get this disgusting display of patriarchal nonsense changed for the greater good of wymyms league players!

I'm not one to bring up problems without solutions so here are some non-problematic alternatives! :) -Womana -Xerna -Xeana -Or just plan Ana! xD

I completely agree. In a patriarchal society where everything is man this, or man that this term is extremely problematic. Internal misogyny is a HUGE problem in popular culture today especially in the video game industry. Worst part is they aren't even trying to be womyn hating pigs :/ They just are. Well I for one will be using the term womana from now on to empower other womyn gamers in a society that does nothing but beat them down.

Mana is actually feminine. If you knew any latin/spanish, you'd know that.

Edit: also, the fact that you'd like to fight for it to be something directly female disgusts me. You're not fighting for equality. You're fighting for superiority. Which is just completely wrong.

Hmm... I see your point.

However, a simple post on the LOL forums will not be sufficient to successfully stem the tide of the word "mana"; as it pertains to a magical resource in the fantasy setting because the word was invented long, long ago, and made popular by games like D&D.

So what you really need to do is put together a time machine and go back to the year 1974. Then find Gary Gygax, and Dave Arneson and convince them that the term "mana" is sexist, and that they need to change it to "femana" or women will be forced to play games with this abhorrent sexist term for the rest of eternity!

I found a diagram of the "Back to the Future" time machine/Delorean (attached), and it appears that the final piece is invented this year, so you should be able to put this bold plan into action any day now. I think radio shack has flux capacitors on sale for $29.99 right now.

I would help you, but I'm already busy trying to get this rainbow-painted pine cone I found signed by all of the world leaders so we can stop gay oppression once and for all, and then focus on world hunger.
