I'm thinking about getting Ubuntu, what would that mean for playing League of Legends?

I'm just wondering. I have absolutely no experience with a Linux based OS, but I am tired of Windows 8.1. Ubuntu looks very nice and I want to try it. My only problem is I haven't a clue if League of Legends works or if it would be worth while to switch since I use league of legends VERY frequently.

It'd mean you'd need to keep windows on your hard drive. Just install Ubuntu on a partition, so you can keep windows for when you want it. You wouldn't be able to have league of Ubuntu itself.

Ive used ubuntu a lot it's easy to get up and running but its kinda bloated for linux. League will play but you will have to google solutions to stuff like shop not showing up and stuff. I don't remember exactly but when I tried getting it working I had lock ups and had to restart a lot. It was ubuntu 11.10 i think that worked best for me. it might work better with newer versions of ubuntu now. Google will help a lot.

LoL currently only has Windows and Mac clients. But you can do a dual boot (having a Windows OS for games and Linux OS for other stuff), or you can do Windows emulation from inside Linux. My friends have had mixed success with various other games under Windows emulation, but none have tried LoL. You might want to try on a virtual machine before flattening your machine in any case.

If I were you I would simply wait for Windows 10. User's of Windows VIsta-8.1 are suppose to get the upgrade for free. It's going to support the new directX12 and with it being Windows you should have no problem playing LoL. It's suppose to be more geared towards how Windows 7 is but with some other features. Feel free to read a little bit more about windows 10. I'll provide you with a link http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/about
