OKAY ANOTHER KARMA THREAD!

I'm trying this thing out because it seems like karma has been forgotten about (again) and it's a large slap in the face to pre-rework karma players because she was gutted and turned into another champ and the only champ to not have a feedback thread. She even has the same "core problems" that the old karma was plagued with. I just wanted to bring some attention to this as I am a karma fan. To any one who reads this you don't have to like karma, but at least understand how jank this feels for someone like me and how riot says nothing about it.

What I loved about old Karma :

  • Shield + Heal made her by far the best sustain support.
  • Ultimate allowed for big plays.
  • Free outplays coming from passive

What I didn't like about old Karma :

  • Ultimate management was tedious (making sure to frequently use ult to not waste it, but keep 2 charges for big fights).
  • Very weak (esp. 6) early game.

What I love about new Karma :

  • All spells feel good even without using her ultimate even at rank 1 (old leash was pretty mediocre at rank 1).
  • Her ultimate feels more ultimate to me, but also more frequently usable. That means that even though you don't have a party-time at level 6, you still can overcome that with teh frequency of small ults you have (a la ryze).
  • Her kit allows for tons of different builds (pure AP, tanky AP, AP-y tank, heck even on-hit+AS can probably work))

What I don't like about new Karma :

  • Ultimate management is still extremely clunky. The fact that each of the ultimates has their very own use cases means that often times you have to sacrifice something just to help your team (use shield just to proc a pseudo-shurelya).

Listing what you feel are currently some of the core problems that persisted with the reworked Karma would help fellow players and Riot to understand how to tackle the issue.

Karma's win rate right now is 45.85% which is higher than Alistar, Leblanc, Syndra, Urgot, and of course Olaf: http://www.lolking.net/champions/

Imo Karma is a hard champion to play and people have to really know what they are doing to play her well.

I don't think new Karma has the same core problems as old Karma.

Old Karma, fundamentally, was designed for a meta that does not exist. She wants to play a duo lane support for a melee champion. New Karma is designed to be a solo laner.

The other major issue with old Karma was that using her kit properly was as much up to her teammates as it was up to her. There was a very high burden of knowledge requirement for her to be effective.

The problem with new Karma is that her buttons are pretty boring. The thing that people liked about old Karma was that she was very different. Her kit didn't work like anyone else's kit. New Karma plays very similarly to other high-utility mids like Orianna and Lux.

New Karma is more healthy, but also less interesting. I think Karma relaunch was a key learning point for Riot about what the playerbase is looking for in relaunches.

I think new Karma could use slight kit tweaks like stun instead of root on W and trade team shield for cc immunity on main target. Besides that, I'd just like her to get a real new skin or two.

Perhaps one day Riot will be willing to break the meta and make a champion with a piece or two of Karma's old mechanics, thus creating the new ultra-bot lane Karma Xin duo! (Or something like that.)

Commenting her cause the huge Karma thread in GD appears to have been removed. Now when I do a Karma search, in title, only old posts show up now.
