Matchmaking needs more Player Control to Combat TROLLS and Improve playing Experience!

I have about had it up to with joining a Lobby and instantly knowing I've just been matched up with a TROLL (or multiple trolls) whose sole purpose is to ensure I have zero fun and almost certainly have no chance to win. Anyone who has played this game for more than an hour knows exactly what I mean. Our only options at this point in time are to A) quit the lobby and be penalized for not wanting to waste time with that filth, or B) play it out and lose (with a small off-chance that victory is obtainable which is only likely if the opposing team also has a troll).

Everyone (allegedly including RIOT) knows toxic players and disconnects are a few of the biggest problems that plagues players. The TRIBUNAL does not work. I have NEVER known of anyone personally to be punished in any way what-so-ever. Regardless of how effective the TRIBUNAL is; Reporting players does no good to ME because if I'm reporting a player at the end of the match, it's already TOO LATE. The KEY I think is to never have to play with TOXIC players to begin with. Wouldn't it be nice if there were some matchmaking/queue options or parameters that YOU as a player could define that might help reduce having to play with these jokers?

Specifically what I'm talking about already exist today in many multiplayer games. DO NOT queue me with people with X percentage of disconnects or X amount of negative feedback(reports). So say I want to set a threshold that will prevent me to play with anyone that has a 20% or greater disconnect rate. Or 30% or greater NEGATIVE feedback in the last X amount of time. Or even set regional parameters like I only want to play with NA, or EU, or APAC players, or only with players with high Teamwork, Friendly, or Honorable Opponent honors.

Is something like this not reasonable? I feel like the one downside may be that Queue times would suffer. But honestly, I think it would be worth it to wait a few more minutes to get matched up with players that are more desirable and will increase the likelyhood that I'll actually ENJOY my time and maybe have fun playing LoL!

Where is RIOT on this? Please...I need something to change. It's to the point to where, the majority of the time, I'm suffering from a negative gaming experience due to these problems and having less and less and less fun each time. I dunno... I am almost to the point where I may just give up on LoL all together (not that RIOT cares about the loss just one man).....Please don't make me give up the game that I love am addicted to!

At the end of the day, I think changes like these would encourage people to be more friendly and cooperative rather than toxic, focus more on teamwork, have fun, and hey...even trolls would have more fun because chances are they would be matched with the riff-raff of TROLLS!

This is a really great idea! I would definitely like to see RIOT implement something like this...especially to reduce the likelihood of playing with toxic players. Ewww so gross wish they would just leave the decent folk alone.

There are a few big flaws.

First of all, the majority of the people you label as trolls don't troll a 'percentage of their games', they're just having a bad day and snap. So you'd still never avoid them. People who get a certain percentage of disconnects get BANNED, same goes for reports. They get chat restirctions, they get temp bans, etc. They're already getting punished... so that means the people who are in your games trolling aren't above the threshold that they'd get affected by your system anyways.

Secondly, we should be focused on systems that drive reform. Prisoner's Island does not. If you take a delinquent and put them in a room full of delinquents, the odds of them suddenly becoming NOT a delinquent with no guidance and no role models is virtually 0. They'll just become worse and worse over time. This is not the type of thing we should be encouraging. We need systems that encourage people to improve over time... the chat restrictions are a good one for that. They make people realize the number of hateful messages they're sending and encourage them to think about what they say. Won't work for everyone, but is a good system to help encourage people to become productive.

Thirdly, just because YOU opt to only play with friendly people doesn't mean they'll only opt to play with you. Basically EVERYONE is going to set their threshold to only play with the best people, and then the ONLY people who will be able to play will be the best people. For example, fi they allow people to pick based off of ribbons, everyone is going to pick 'great leader' because everyone knows it is the hardest ribbon to get. And as a result, the only people who will actually EVER get a game are the 'great leaders' because THEY will pick great leader too.

Fourthly, allowing people to control who they get matched with completely destroys the purpose of a matchmaker and completely ruins the ladder. It basically means that the people who climb will be the people who pick the right settings, not the people who actually deserve it by skill. It'll create an awkward loophole in the ladder system, a great way to completely avoid having to actually improve.

Finally, you already DO choose who you play with in regards to region. You only ever get matched with people playing on the same server as you. If you play on NA, you will NEVER get matched with someone playing on EUW. The servers are completely separate. Now, there's nothing stopping people from playing on a server that isn't close to them... and nothing SHOULD stop them. With the growth of the internet and the globalization of the world, many people have friends all over the world. They should be allowed to play together.

Ummmmmm... Such a simple solution to a complex problem. I personally like what the Tribunal ATTEMPTS to do...but I agree it doesnt get the job done. Having this type of control over your matchmaking que wouldn't eliminate thr problem comoletly, but would most likely be more effective.
