I realized it after thinking about: "what if I happen to be in a team where I don't want to be?"
In Team Builder you had the freedom to chose if staying or waiting more to find a new team, this surely slowed down the formation of many teams but... Now you are forced to either play in a team that you don't want or dodge and meet the punishment to do it.
I think there must be a way to avoid these extremes... and no, it's not called Blind Pick.
Deep Terror Nami1 votesThere's a reason the new Champ Select doesn't have this; it dramatically extends queue times and punishes people that don't play the popular picks. It was a failure of TB that Riot learned from.

As open to off-meta picks one can be, there should be the freedom to change team if you don't want to be forced playing in one without occurring in punishemnt because you didn't bow to others' choices.
Edit: Also, when Jhin comes out I'll instabuy him and after 2-3 matches vs AI I want to play him in pvp (Normals), how do I deal with ppl seeing me intending to pick said character and thus banning him? Hoping to get not-douchebags?
Deep Terror Nami1 votesDon't act like that's common. If you absolutely have to avoid a team or player, then the dodge penalty should be worth it. If it isn't worth it, it must not be that big of a deal.

Deep Terror Nami1 votesWanting to avoid the things you are talking about is reasonable. The problem is that 99% of free dodges will not be used for that. There has to be a penalty or it will hurt the game a lot.
Stars Shaper1 votesAgree with that, but it can't be either 0%. There should be some some grey zone such as that if you get your pick banned by your own team you have a free dodge (if it doesn't happen more than 3 times). Or something daily/weekly or even point based such as rerolls in ARAM so that you get to play some matches if you want a free dodge.
And ofc this only in Normal.
