Finished 8-2 in promos and got silver v with last two wins at gold II mmr. Why only silver V?
Why was I only placed into Silver V? Was placed in silver III last season after going 4-6 in promos. The MMR system seems a bit off. Thoughts?

What's off about the MMR system? You didn't raise your MMR last season, but only made it lower by going 5-16. Then, as everyone did, you lost some MMR for the new season soft reset. Your provisional matches can only raise it so much.
Last season your placement was entirely dependent on how you did in those 10 matches; now it is based off your MMR (if you've played Ranked before). Bronze players can no longer get lucky and get into Plat with 10 games, and Diamonds can't get unlucky and get placed in Bronze.
