Why Does Riot Keep Banning Programs That Add Custom Champion Sorting?

Ace was removed for (in short terms) security issues, and the developer was offered an interview. I get that. Hell, I'm still in the discord and I've talked to the guy.

But now from Lolreplay2? According to the patch note given, "there is no issue with the features themselves, but there is concern that the method used could be used for less well-meaning modifications". Similar sounding to ACE, so I have to assume it uses the same code injection method. If it's such a problem why leave it open, and why not add it natively?

According to the responses from the ACE removal reddit thread (months old now) there are no plans to add custom champion sorting at this time. But you keep removing it as soon as it's added. There's only 3 logical reasons.

  1. Riot plans to release this feature SoonTM and doesn't want to spoil the surprise. This isn't a surprise, it only pisses off players.
  2. Riot secretly hates this feature for some arbitrary reason and never wants it added to the game. Unlikely, considering they've already said it's ok in concept.
  3. Riot has no plans to work on this feature for the next several months/years because they're too busy slacking off. Most likely reason, given that two different developers have now created the feature in a matter of weeks. Possibly using two different methods. Sounds like slacking to me.

Despite my accusations I do love Riot. You guys put out some great work and ever since you admitted fault on solo queue you've improved in communication greatly. It's just frustrating when you just take things down without saying "Hey, given the number of times this has been attempted, we're going to move it up the list of things to do. Sorry it's taking so long but the team that would design this is currently working on X feature" or anything besides "Take this down, you can't do it".

Here's some motivation. You're looking for a way to reduce pick timers for 10 bans right? I guarantee people pick faster when they can search by their own custom groups. It's much faster for me to see available "mids" instead of looking through the assassin and mage tabs to find what I want. Should shave at least 10 seconds off every person's pick time.

Sorry if this is in the wrong category, I don't post here much. I just figured this would get lost on reddit.

Riot used to be good when it came to listening to the community, or coming up with features because they actually played the game. Pretty sure they used to advertise along the lines of "We are gamers who make games" Now half of them don't even play the game regularly. It happens to all game companies once they start growing and get sucked up by a bigger corp like Tencent. They are no longer worried about the state of the game, just that it keeps making more and more money.

Either that or they just get incredibly arrogant. Look at Blizzard. Players beg for legacy servers for WoW, and Chris fucking Metzen has the audacity to say "You don't want them".

When it comes to games like League and WoW.. they always be the biggest and best, so they no longer listen to their consumers because who gives a damn if you go elsewhere, there will always be more people to sign up and fill our pockets.

IMO the devs should just keep recreating the programs over and over, slightly altering it each time. The problem with that though is big daddy riot will just offer them a job to stop them doing it, and they will take it because "fuck my consumers, I can get ahead"
