What, if anything, is being done to address matchmaking?

I don't want to beat a dead horse with anecdotal evidence - I think there's enough of that throughout this community.

With that being said, some of us feel that the matchmaking in this game is flawed. What, if anything, is being done to enhance and "balance" the matchmaking process in the game?
