Halloween cosplay

my bf and I are doing some league cospaly for halloween (or really forever cause I doubt we'll get rid of the costumes if we finish them for halloween) He has decided to do Assassin Master Yi and I plan on doing Bloodmoon Akali. I was wondering if the community had any suggestions for details. Of course we've got the basic ideas and I've researched a lot of cosplay on Akali,but Yi (especially the Assassin skin) has not been done enough to find a lot of examples of. I plan on using different parts of the four variations of Akali and I believe my boyfriend will be using the just the splash art of Yi. We could just buy costumes online but we'd rather not just wear costumes, so I'd like to ask the League community about their cosplay experiences with LoL and their game play experience that influence cosplay to be more than just a costume...
