Disclaimer: I AM NOT DEFENDING DUNKEY OR WHAT HE DID, JUST USING HIS SITUATION AS AN EXAMPLE.

So our beloved RIOT have banned dunkey for flaming a feeder who ruined his promos yet they didn't TOUCH the feeder himself. Recently, former LCS player and popular youtuber, Imaqtpie, got placed in queue more than SIX TIMES in a row with a person who kept picking katarina/teemo as support. This guy got to feed a huge amount of games before he got banned for TWO WEEKS. Now here's what I think is wrong with this: For flaming you can get banned PERMANENTLY if you do it for around 3 games in a row or so. Now flaming could be easily dodged by muting the guy which is why it shouldn't be treated as harshly. FEEDING, on the other hand, can't be dodged no matter what you do and no matter how good you are. So basically Dunkey flamed (severely) for 1 game, and got banned for 2 weeks. The guy who fed and ruined over 7 games (or at least what's been streamed) AND DROPPED the players from Master to Diamond got banned for 2 weeks as well. So dunkey, who flamed a guy who ruined his game, got the same punishment as the guy who ruined over 10 games at high elo which takes really a lot of effort to sustain. RIOT claims to have this new "system" that they put up to prevent such players from playing games, which apparently has seemed great functionality :kappa:. They ban flamers way faster and more severely than feeders. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I wouldn't like to waste my time that I spend on ranked queues just to end up with feeders. Not only do they waste the game's time and my temper, but they also make me lose the elo I've gained from the previous games which I also spent time on so basically each game lost takes twice the time to replenish (since game lost + game that has to be won to gain back elo). What I suggest is that RIOT can actually loosen up a little bit on their "flaming" policies since EVERY game has this issue and deals with it. CSGO doesn't have a similar policy and hey!, it's a great game, so are many online games as well. The issue with League is not "flamers", but rather the cause of the flaming. Feeders are the real cancer that need to be treated. Instead of banning someone for taking out his rage in a couple of sentences for ending up with a feeder, ban those who cause this person to not have such a good time. You have the mute feature to use whenever you end up with a flamer which is a solution to such thing. So please, focus on the real problem in this game, not just some keyboard warriors. Thanks for your time for reading this and hopefully you guys put this into consideration.

its easy to detect flamers. just write a program that detects certain keywords and phrases.

feeders are tougher. people have bad games. it is impossible to write a program that can judge someones intentions when they die.

With the new reporting system at the end of the game, it should be easier for Riot to ban intentional feeders. I've had my fair share of terrible games, but I doubt I've ever been reported as an intentional feeder because the behavior of someone having a bad game and someone who is intentionally feeding is different.

I definitely agree with OP. All of the legitimate toxicity I've had to deal with is because there was someone intentionally causing drama. Whether ignoring lane calls, intentionally feeding, or whatever. Almost all of the flaming I've witnessed has been justified. Sometimes you get that dick who yells at someone because they're having a bad game. You will find those people a lot too. Those flamers are the ones who need to be banned.

With the new reporting system in place, at the end of the game an intentional feeder would hopefully get all nine intentional feeder reports. A person who is flaming someone with no legitimate reason would hopefully get at least four reports, if not more if the other team also collaborates. A person who is greifing a person who is being a dick (intentionally feeding, etc.) would get one report, maybe two. I really doubt an entire team would report someone for flaming when it's justified.

I don't care if I'm in a ranked game or an ARAM, I report people when they're behaving terribly--plain and simple. **In the end, it is the responsibility of the community to report these problematic players. ** This is the only way to ensure there is ample evidence against those who intentionally feed.

With a more active community, Riot can punish those who truly deserve it.
