So let me start by saying last season i was in Silver IV and my friend was in Gold II or III i believe, and now i just completed my 10 games to get placed i'm left wondering how the placement works because he and i both won 7/10 games yet he gets placed in Gold II and i'm back in Silver IV, am i missing something here?

In that case, it's because his mmr last season was much greater than yours. This reset still places you at around you orignial rank last season, unless you do extremely well (10 wins) or extremely bad (
Yes, sorry i meant Silver IV. Well then that makes no sense to me, because i was under the impression that you basically started at the bottom and were placed based on how well you did in your 10 games, but if it places me exactly or around where i was last season then what is really the point of the 10 games if i'm just gonna get placed right back where i was?
