How to protect players by trolling team members in a lost game

First i want to excuse myself, my english isnt the best i guess. But i got a recent problem with the surrender mechanic in League of Legends, based both on bad matchmaking and at least 2 "trolling" team members. Maybe you are familiar with this situation: all of your lanes and jungle losing hard all game long, and you are feeling at the 20 minute mark, this game is over, it doesnt make any sense to keep on playing. So it should be clear for all of your comrades to hit the "Yes"-Botton in surrender vote, but then the result is like 3-2. 2 guys blaming you or another person of ur team for losing the game and rather waste their time than to release the team from this suffering. But what are you going to do? Most of the time these people arent willing to let it go and keep playing until the enemys at least are showing mercy and end the game. Gametime: 40+. And then you just keep thinking: what have i done to deserve this?

In my opinion, there should be a way for players in a (hard) losing team to be able to just leave this game after some conditions were fullfilled, so they dont have to waste their limited lifetime on earth with these mean and often also toxic players without being the ones who gets punished for this. Those condition could contain somethink like:

  • the enemy team got an gold lead X at time Y
  • you, the player who just want this game to have an end, have voted at least 3 times with yes in the surrender vote in a row while the vote overall still failed to be accepted for a surrender
  • your own death times shouldnt be more then 50-X% of your teams deaths (troller in game should still be punished and not be allowed to leave without a punishment since they are the reason the team is losing as hell; could be hard to determinate if its really a troll player or just an unlucky day for this poor guy)

so pls share ur thoughts if you are interested in this topic, i have this feeling that the actuall surrender vote system is often a part of having a bad in game expericence.

if the surrender mechanics bother you so much, improve at the game so you don't need to surrender so often

Like i said, often its not only about my personal level of skill, often its also cause of the unfair matchmaking in normal games. For an example, im just silber 2, and i know thats bad, but i had to play with 4 guys i dont know who where silber 3, 2 unranked with 150 wins in normals and a 28 lvl guy against 3 plat, 1 gold and one unranked with around 1000 wins. but two guys from my team decided to troll and always hit the no button. tell me what am i supposed to do in situations like this?

The surrender option should be removed- atleast in ranked. Are you talking about a straight up troll who's running up a lane under tower feeding? or a person who's doing bad, but still making an attempt to farm and such? Either way- coming from Dota 2 and duo q's (preventing the surrender vote from passing) majority of the games you feel is a lost cause is winnable.

Since in ranked the teams are almost fair balanced based on ELO and stuff, i am more focused on the general game experience in normal q when playing alone or just 1 or 2 friends. in fact there are often way more unbalanced teams facing each other. the troller im talking about doesnt have to hard feed their lanes on purpose, im talking here about the people who know very well u are going to lose a game allready very hard and there is no comeback and still hit the no button to punish those who they fell like are guilty for this. So they not have to troll gamewise necessary.

I agree that surrender votes are important to the game. I understand that some players think playing a game out is a waste of time. You ask what you did to deserve this, but the answer is clear: by accepting to play a game with others you made a commitment to play. Just because you think you are losing doesn't give you the right to ruin other player's experiences by spamming surrender votes. It's fine to argue for a change in the rules governing surrender votes but it is unfair to suggest that players that don't surrender are toxic simply because they disagree with you.

I could start ranting all the games I've won that players wanted to surrender where there were afks, trolls, feeders, etc. but so many players have already done that for me in numerous other threads on this topic. The bottom line is that your opinion that the game is lost or no longer fun to play is just an opinion. Just as those who think the game is won are merely expressing an opinion. The conditions you place on being allowed to leave the game are just another part of your opinion of what constitutes a lost game.

Fair enough, of course it may only be my personal opinion that a certain game is allready lost. but there are in fact games where it should be clear for all of ur team members that a game cant be won anymore. lets say for an example: its 10 to 40 in kills after 30 min, just imagine. lets say the botlane of the team with 10 kills are premades and got together 7 of the 10 teamkills while the whole team is feding for whatever reason, may it be laggs, a bad day or just way better opponents, so to speak not nesscarly troller or intentionally feeders in the team. these 2 guys are now blaming the rest of their team and refusing to surrender. not because they are think "yeah we can still win this" because.. well lets be honest... no they just keep playing to make them suffer. even ifs this may be only a non-common situation, but it happens more often to all of us than we may wanna think about. and then the surrender fails 3-2, so in fact more than half of the team is willing to surrender this game, but because 2 guys are mad, they cant. and now the 3 poor guys who may just have underperformed or whatever are forced to continue this? my point is that in a game like this the game expericene is allready gone, because losing simply sucks. no one is like: yeah, we lost this game so hard man... super fun to get on hit by their ADCs AA... at least in a case like this, were at least 3 people are trying to surrender cause they dont c anything good anymore in this game, it should be at least considered if there is a way for thos 3 guys to go. so i´m kinda on ur side, not a single person only should be allowed to go after like 3 surrender votes and just open another opportunity for leavers. but if more than the half of a team is willing to just press the restart button and some conditions are fullfield it should be ok to go. and again, i´m focusing this disscusion only on normal quene, not on ranked quene. thats because the reason why u may have fall back in game in normal is more likely due unfair matchmaking then a ranked solo/duo q is, at least in my opinion.
