NO SEASON REWARDS FOR ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN PENALIZED SINCE THE BEGINNING OF SEASON 5

TLDR Don't double jeopardy players who have already received punishment during season 5 by taking away season rewards. Seriously, you don't have to give out event skins or event icons or mystery champions and all that jazz to toxic players but give us the dam rewards we deserve for achieving a certain rank.

CONFESSIONS OF A TOXIC PLAYER Seriously, as a toxic player I am constantly trying to improve my behavior due to all the great things I miss out on. From All Chat to the wonderful prizes given out during Events, not having these and constantly getting chat restrictions really makes me take a step back. I even resorted to just muting everyone in game and not saying a single thing and just grind out the chat restrictions until I can actually effectively communicate with my team.

So there's something you are doing right. The minor restrictions ARE a push for toxic players such as myself to reform. However, with the announcement that any player who has gotten even a measly 5 game chat restriction for saying "gg ez" or something benign like that in February WILL NOT receive any season rewards. Ok, that is just too extreme Rito, like come on bro. You guys are going a little crazy now with the penalizing and it's starting to have a negative impact on toxic players such as myself.

The light yet precise punishments have been the most effective thus far for me. However, the worst time ever was when I got something like 100 game chat restriction and I finished that out then RIGHT AWAY got another, yet lesser, restriction. The thrill of finally being able to enjoy all chat again quickly turned into a feeling of irritation. The most frustrating thing is knowing that YOU HAVE improved as a toxic player but still get punished over and over again. All of this makes me question what the end goal is.

Lyte's goals for this game are truly unrealistic. All this excessive punishment is creating a much more frustrating situation which is clearly the opposite of what is intended.

Rito is heading in the right direction and they really aren't that far from a nice system. Just take a step back. Look at your player base more realistically. Accept that we are all human and that there is no such thing as League Utopia. Enough with this double, triple, .... , n-tuple jeopardy non-sense.

"Reward" being the primary word here ! Rewards are given not taken away.

While I disagree with your op still I am Sorry you may miss out on something you worked hard for, best of luck to you.

Requirements to earn the reward:

  • Gold+ rank
  • Never Chat Restricted/Rank Restricted/Banned/AFKed enough to earn 20 minute low priority queue

The OP's only half earned the reward. I've half earned Gold, should I also get the reward?

I just find it funny that they put so much focus on the only thing you can control in the game (muting a "toxic" player). Yet they put no effort into punishing the trolls that cause the toxicity the vast majority of the time. It's truly mind blowing. Lyte thinks it's ok to intentionally troll your team, but not ok to call the troll out on it.

1 single chat restrictions losing season rewards is just crazy, especially considering how sensitive their chat restriction penalties are.

I actually agree with this one. I feel like they are putting their resources in the wrong direction. Toxicity does not sprout from thin air, 90% of the times I witness someone being toxic is because of another player trolling or being AFK. Yes, there are players who are toxic simply because things aren't going their way, but I see them way less often than the people toxic as a response to people trolling, taunting, etc.

I would be willing to bet if they put their resources in finding known trollers, intentional feeders, and provokers (by provokers I mean people adding fuel to the fire, like someone saying "get rekt to someone who is already on tilt) they would see a decrease in toxic players more so than just outright banning toxic players without context of the situation.

Double-jeopardy prevents you from going to jail again for the first robbery.

It's not hard to not be toxic in this game. If you get upset, say it out loud to yourself. Get a punching bag and hit it between games to let off steam. Actively taking the time to type things out, that's a decision.

Not only that, but you know how wonky and weird Rito's servers has been lately, disconnecting players randomly in NA?

Whelp, if you got a 20 minute timer for their servers locking up, you get no season rewards still! Isn't that fabulous. That's something we totally can control.

It was a few months back, and the server problem is a LOT less now, since its only with pesky isp's who refuse to support Riot, but since I used to live on the East Coast a lot of us would get packet losses, and sometimes we'd get "attempting to reconnect' permanently, so we'd have to restart our whole game.

So hmmm. That's totally our fault that before the Chicago move Rito's server has been absolute shit.

It would disconnect, me and the nest 2-3 weeks would be fine, then all the sudden it happened like 2 times in a row, then was fine again. It was Riot's problem, because EVERYONE in the boards that were on the east coast had that problem, and it was completely randomized and was different for everyone. Some like me had it only a few times, some had it almost every day and just went on to play bots until that temporary server fix kicked in to help save our poor souls for a bit.

So because their server is faulty, we should just never play ever until August 25th when the servers will move. Seems legit. Either they fix their servers or just make a goddamn NA East and NA West. East Coast players have suffered enough ping spikes and packet losses to last a lifetime.

PS: I now live in Texas, so my ping and packet loss have improved and I haven't left a game since due to servers bugging, packet losses, etc. (I now have Time Warner, and whelp, still no issues! So I'm 99% sure it isn't them) East Coast players should not be told 'Well F you' because they get millions of dollars from LC$BIGPLAY$ and not make a better server until now.

PPS: I didn't play ranked until recently, only normals. So yeah.

Haha, I'm on East Coast too. I know the pains. I'm not going to try and defend Riot or concede your point because I don't know the details, but I have had my share of ISP failures, but it hasn't resulted in a punishment.

I don't know the details, I can only speculate there is something else in play here I can't see, and wont' be able to.

Well, there's 2 thing I'd like to clarify.

  1. I've never received Low Priority Queue, I always instantly reconnected knowing of the attempting to reconnect bug, and whenever I got lag spikes I just recalled and told my team to give me a good 10-15 seconds to let it go down before feeding.

  2. I lived in New York, and I guess that's a blessing zone seeing as my Verizon internet was a hardcore trooper helping me survive the extensive disconnects. It used to be much worse until I got the highest internet package, right before Season 5 started

  3. Some people have it a lot worse in terms of packet losses and spikes, and I don't know THEIR stories, but I still must say that its legit not their ISP's fault, because my friend in Maryland literally got spikes all the time, but playing any other game he never had that problem, EVER, including Dota 2, Smite, etc.

I had Direcpath before I moved out of that apartment.

I couldn't find a game on the Master Chief Collection even if I waited for an hour (this was after the fix).

My new place, I can find games in less than 2 minutes.

It was strange because I could play every other game just fine.
Like I said, I've been there done that.

They chat restricted you. That should be the punishment. What does doing the same crime twice have to do with this? Riot is punishing you for getting chat restricted even a SINGLE time. He got punished for doing something bad. That should be an incentive to stop. Okay. He stopped and improved. Then he gets smacked in the face because Riot decides to give him another punishment RIGHT BEFORE THE SEASON ENDS for a crime he committed, let's say, about a year ago. They're removing any incentive to improve if they punish u for improving

You're not on the watchlist forever, and no they're not 'out to get you'. As you said, it's about 'reform' if they're watching you and you actually show a behavior change then they stop, but if you keep acting the way you did they're going to drop a restriction again.

At the end of the day getting on that list means you broke rules, and there are punishments for breaking rules.

Have u not read the post? They punish u even if u get off the 'watchlist' If u showed a behavior change it doesnt matter because they take away the season rewards regardless.

The simple fact is that if you did something to get banned or restricted, you don't deserve a reward. Period. Rewards are for people who followed the rules and weren't douchebags.

Toxic does not mean inaccurate. Nor does it mean false.

Indeed, the True/False value of a statement has exactly no bearing on whether or not that statement is toxic.

By using the profanity in such a way as to put a "blanket" on every player who is considered toxic without yet knowing reasons or the person themselves, let alone even seen them in a game before, and even then people who have already been triple sentenced for behavior in the past by speaking very ill of them, that is toxic.

I hardly find the word "douchebag" profane.

As for blanketing everyone, each of those persons did something that caused them to be punished. No one made them them do it. They did it on their own, which is a statement to the kind of person they are.

I don't understand why this comes as such a surprise. They did the same thing last season, and stated that it represented a shift in policy direction. So not only were we warned about this, we were warned about it almost a year ago.

Hell, at that point, it's not even double-jeopardy. It's just an extension of the already-established punishment (not unlike tacking a fine onto a jail-time sentence).

Even if that weren't the case, it still wouldn't really be double-jeopardy, so much as a consequence of the original punishment.

Yeah I don't agree with the taking away of peoples' season rewards. I am not a toxic player myself so there is really no bias when I say this. By all means Riot, chat restrict and ban toxic players from the game, but don't take away their rightfully earned season rewards. It doesn't matter how toxic someone was, they were already punished with some sort of restriction, and taking away the season reward they worked for and earned is not right. Find some other way to punish these players.
