Honestly I told this kid who wanted to play support Heimerdinger with ignite that I would AFK if he went through with it. So he did. and I just shut down league the minute the loading screen started. Fuck people like him. When someone takes an edgy, bad champ in a role which is obviously unintended for taht champ, with the goal of taking your kills and cs, I think this is perfectly acceptable.

Rl reasons are the only acceptable ones to afk. You didn't like his pick? So what. Not every single game has to be meta. There are plenty of games won with off meta comps.
I've played support donger many times and didn't steal anything. If you know when and where to place turrets it will work.
the only roles unintended for champs are those that are never played. you never know what could happen because of champion matchup and player abilities. i always see weird things like that in team builder but when i enter the game, i just kinda let people do what they want because many times you see someone doing thats not in the meta, and it ends up doing really well, and sometimes it doesnt. but if you dont do it, then youll never know. Besides an afk is never ok because, even if himer sup didnt do very well, they did many times worse because u werent there, not because of heimer.
This is how toxic people are created. Normal people, put into %%%%ty situations by people who are selfish and don't understand that pick order is a thing for a reason. And at some point, we all have to play something we didn't go into the lobby wanting to.
It is NEVER okay of AFK. You can play anyone in support and do decent. Heimer may not have been the optimal choice, but if he put turrets in bushes/used them to zone and/or protect from ganks, bought sightstone and warded, would you complain? Hopefully not. You never know what's going to happen until you play the game. Do not assume something isn't going to go well without actually seeing it.
Not only did you make the experience bad for the Heimer, but you also made the experience bad for everyone else on your team.
Edit: After looking at his match history, when he's not playing ARAM, that Heimer plays A LOT of support (with guys like Thresh and Alistar). So judging by that, he probably would have played support properly. Hope you enjoy your 20 minute low-priority queue coming up.
This isn't a good excuse to afk, just because he picks an out of the meta champion doesn't mean he's trolling. You deserve any reports you got that game, and you should know that your behavior isn't considered acceptable by the rules of league
Yeahhh well if your team had a smaller chance to win with a heimer support "still possible" your team now has less of a chance with you afk. So in reality all you did was %%%% over 3 innocent people. therefore not ok
