My thoughts on the mute button

I think the mute button is something that should not be used except in extreme circumstances. It might be an unpopular opinion, but I think people should not mute others unless they are spamming enough to impact vision of the screen. Important information could Come from any player at any time, regardless of whether they are flaming or raging. Personally, no matter how much I am being insulted, I never mute anyone, and it has won games for me. I'm sick of people muting me, and then I can't give them info they need.

I'm actually of a different belief, which is that if someone's being an asshole I'm going to mute them before they imapct my gameplay with their endless negative comments. I find I have much better results muting them than not muting them as typically they contribute nothing beyond flaming everyone instead of taking responsibility for their mistakes.

Try not flaming your team and you're less likely to get muted. You're also less likely to respond to flamers and risk chat restrictions and bans if the person flaming you is muted. You can still communicate quite well through pings, they're rather versatile in their meanings, but most people who focus on flaming are going to contribute little if anything at all to the game in terms of communication, and what they do contribute is vastly outweighed by the negative crap they throw out, better off muting them.

personally, I used to mute often because I'd tilt real easy, and I'd play better if I wasn't getting harassed. but lately I've been a little more thick skinned, so I try to avoid muting.

people mute. don't get all defensive over it, it's something that happens, take it as another factor in the game. if you wanna win you gotta treat everything like something to master.

While I do agree, really it's the people's choice who they want to mute and why! If you are giving them a reason to mute you, whether it's spamming, being toxic, and any other reason maybe it's you that needs to change!

If you don't mind being verbally abused and can play without it affecting you or talking back to them, by all means don't mute.

However, most people don't want to deal with that, and they shouldn't have to.
