If there was an MMO that played very similar to LoL, would you play it?

There's quite a bit of information on the purpose of the project; it's to get Riot on board with it, not to create it without their permission. There's nothing illegal going on, just trying to show Riot there is interest.

Wait, they're taking money without plans of actually making the game and only want to get Riot's attention?

The money is going to Riot as an incentive to make the game and show them that there is interest. No one is just 'taking the money'.

EDIT - Keep in mind the only time anyone would actually have to pay money towards this is if it actually hit $5 million, it's set high on purpose. If it gets over a $1 million, it will pique Riot's interest. Extremely unlikely that it would get even close to the point that the backers would have to pay it.

I'm in a similar boat, as most MMORPGs don't seem to hold my attention long. I've played League since closed beta and have always come back around to play; there's a reason for that, and I definitely think it would translate in to an MMORPG that was ridiculously fun.

Riot as a company is currently supporting the single largest multiplayer PC game in the world, I'd be overwhelmingly surprised if they were willing to take on a project like this without independently coming to the conclusion it's something they want.

I also can't see Riot partnering with an unknown kickstarter creator to work on something taking this much development time and being this complex. Well-designed MMORPGs can take many years; World of Warcraft, with a team of nine hundred people, took almost five years and over sixty million dollars to produce initially, and that's not including any of the maintenance or update resources.

You're definitely not wrong.

Keep in mind though that WoW was created from scratch, this game wouldn't be. It would take quite a bit of modifications and enhancements, but that's a LONG ways away from starting from scratch.

I know the chances are slim, but I figured it was worth a shot nonetheless.
