Feedback: Report Warning Timing

Report warnings seem to be sent to players as soon as the report is sent. This leads to cases where post-game lobby toxicity is increased where the player receiving the report will lash out at the assumed reporter.

I understand that warnings should be received as soon as possible, but is there a benefit to allowing the reported player to retaliate to the reporter?

I suggest postponing the behavior warning until after the reported player leaves the lobby.

There's actually a delay of some amount of time between when the warning is triggered and when it is issued.

Additionally, the warnings aren't actually representative of single reports, but rather a spike in reports against the account. For example:

If you normally are reported in 1% of your games, you'll only receive a warning if that number "spikes" to, say, 3-5% in a relatively short amount of time.

I understand that warnings should be received as soon as possible, but is there a benefit to allowing the reported player to retaliate to the reporter?

Of course not! Nor is the system intended to allow that. It's common, however, for players who are on tilt and in a toxic spree to continue to do so even after that warning is triggered. As such, it occasionally occurs that the warning message appears after a game where the player is reported - but that report is not related to that message.

Many players who see those warnings, however, are unaware of this.

Which, to my mind, is the biggest failing of the system. The actual workings of it are a mystery to most players, and so they make assumptions that aren't really accurate. And unfortunately, that works against everyone.

whenever two people are being toxic, especially towards one other, I report one as soon as I get in post-game chat for that reason. They will always assume, and instareport the other, who instareports back. Otherwise they might forget to report, or not initially feel strongly enough to report. This is usually followed by more toxicity post-game, which further seals their fate. :p

I'm so done with all these toxic players lately
