Replay function incorporated into client

Is there any news about a replay-saving function being incorporated into League? BaronReplays and LoLreplay are both awesome, until a patch comes out. Why don't you partner with one or both of them, Riot? Or bring some of them on board to move everything client side, with replay paths saved on each individual computer?

I know there was one being tested out on PBE, but it soon disappeared after it's initial release. Is there any update on the sort, Riot? I've checked into Fraps/Overwolf and other screen capture programs, or overlays, and none of them can compete with a spectator mode recording with the ability to rewind, fast forward, and pause.

Thanks, Wookie

I doubt they'll respond here because they won't want to accidentally commit to anything.

What we heard previously is that they are currently limited in scope because of server capacity. When they release the feature, they want to be able to do it properly the first time, which means (to them) a listing in the client of available replays stored server-side. I'm not sure if they're limited by bandwidth or server storage capacity, but either way they said it couldn't be done yet. About a year ago, they told the LolReplays developer that he should probably stop work because they would be soon entirely duplicating his functionality in the client (which is what we saw briefly on PBE)...but still nothing.

That said, they recently upgraded server capacity in NA at the end of November, so maybe there's some faint hope that they'll be able to deploy this fundamental basic feature of a competitive game.
