There's been a serious streak of ranged champs coming out lately. Yes, i know that 
is melee, but besides her we've hit a streak of 4 now. I need a new fav top-laner, Rito. I have trust in you. Pls don't disappoint.
I'd consider Sion to also be a new champ (face it, virtually nothing of the old Sion is left except his +health on kills and his exploding shield), and he's melee. That said, I would love a new melee, either some sort of AP tank like Amumu or Maokai or a melee carry like Jax or Yi.
No matter if melee or ranged, Riot will have their uniqueness come from mobility.
Well, 
should count as a half, shouldn't he? 9 of the last 20 are melee, 8/20 are ranged, and 3/20 are form switching, but start in ranged. Seems fairly even to me.
