Placement System Discussion

First off i just want to say that Riot is doing things all, after all they do own the most popular game in the world. I personally think placement matches are super stressful and very disheartening especially after getting a good record.

My case is no where near the worst that I have heard thus far but I dropped from plat3 to gold 3 with a 7-3 record. I understand that it must be very difficult to compute this MMR including the reset but I think its something that should be looked into.

Playing these placements give people anxiety attacks, because the difference between a win or two can mean 2-3 divisions. I think they should take into account stats among these games to help determine a better ranking even though it would be very hard to calculate just based on ones score.

Winning over 5 of the 10 placement matches should feel like a win, and should be rewarded or at least feel okay. That's not the case here: winning 70% of the games is not a good enough ratio to stay at the current mmr you were just at apparently.

I understand from Riot's point that they want people to work for their spot in the new season but its very discouraging. The formula for calculating this must be extremely complex, beyond my understanding as it should be; there must be some things to help players feel better, especially the lower ranked players in silver and bronze. Have them drop to the bottom of the league after they have been hovering there their entire career must be heart breaking. At least for the high diamond, challenger , and master players know they will make it back because they are gods among us.

Diamond 1 and above should be reset to low or mid diamond to stay distant from the crowd. Because let's face it, they will just hit the top and there is no need for them to embarrass any plat players on the way there!

Thanks for reading my late night #feelsbadman post. If you have ideas to improve this system orr feel my pain please share with me!

I'm still doing my placement. So far i won 6 out of 6, but yeah. I already know like each season, that it won't matter too much. Last season i dropped from gold 3 to silver 4. THis year i finished plat 5 (but should have a bit higher mmr then that, about plat 3 range) and i HOPE to start at least gold. AT LEAST.

ANyway yes, placement should feel good if you do well, instead it's just frustrating, like many other things in this game

Personally I would like to see more Diamonds and higher cause lets face it. My bedroom now has a new coat of paint as I can queue for a game and get a good 15 minutes plus of painting in before I find a match. Watching paint dry is what I do to kill time now.

I do wish they would not reset ranks so far. For low elos its pretty disheartening. LIke you said the top dogs dont mind as they love climbing anyways. But when you spent all your energy trying to get "plat" or "gold" or "silver" then you do well in placements only to be thrown back a entire tier or so makes for an uneasy feeling.
