Hello everyone, quick question here. A RL friend of mine got banned for scripting and he claims that his roommate (who also plays LoL) apparently scripted accounts into Diamond and got banned for it and Riot (accidentally) IP banned his account in the process aswell. Is this potentially true or is he just trying to save face by not admitting to scripts?
They don't do IP bans because of the potential to harm players other than the intended one, and it's not very effective. Checking the IP used in a scam boost etc. may be part of their process for determining if someone broke the rules, though. They can't tell you many details though, so that people can't easily get around it.
So he might be telling the truth, but it is unlikely?
No, Riot doesn't give IP bans. He is trying to save face.
No IP bans exist. If the roommate scripted, Riot might also check other accounts on that IP, but his account would have to script to be banned for scripting.
