My friend and I just finished our final game of placements in 3v3 going 5/5 and we ended up getting Bronze V. So I'm wondering how going 5/5 gets the same result as 0/10. I know order of wins/loses and stuff matters so we went 2W-3L-2W-1L-1W-1L. With these results we weren't expecting to be silver but at least mid bronze. It's no big deal as I don't really care much about ranked I was just curious.

Dirty Bastard1 votesDoubt you would see a "high" ranking resulting from 10 losses.
Wins vs Losses and it takes into account the other team's mmr. When you win a match your performance affects the end result as well. But keep in mind, it also takes into account the mmr of the opposing team. Whether they are higher mmr or lower. winning against higher mmr is better for your ranking more than winning to equal or lower mmr. The opposite is true for for losing.

As for why going even can still result in Bronze 5, that's because that player had very low MMR the season before; your first time placements are calculated with a baseline MMR, but if you've ranked before it's based on that.
It's not like "Win 0 matches you go Bronze 5, win 5 matches you go Silver 3, win 10 matches you get G2".

Edit: Nevemind I played 4 placement games in the preseason (in November), then didn't play league at all until a couple days ago. Did maybe my MMR get set to bronze 5 because I never finished the placements?
Deep Terror Nami1 votesYour performance has no effect on placement, LP, or MMR. The only factor taken into account is your MMR and if you won or lost. If you were high ranked before then you can place high even if you lose all your games, and the opposite is true.

Deep Terror Nami1 votesThe soft reset definitely causes your MMR to drop, but you're not going to get Bronze 5 unless you were already pretty low.

Dirty Bastard1 votesTrue, as for performance I had been misinformed, I was told by a friend who duo queued and won all games with his buddy that they somehow got different ranks after placements. One of them carried, but maybe it was due to the past season mmr and whether they played ranked after the season closed for S6.
