Matchmaking Advice

I'm just curious how the matchmaking works in ranked solo queue. When it comes to being paired up with people of equivalent skill level, it has been a complete joke. If the matches don't already have someone on my team that's intentionally feeding or being extremely argumentative/"salty", i get a ton of unskilled players; whether it's lack of experience or just not good at the game entirely. It's become so frequent and so frustrating that all i want to do is mute everyone before the game even starts.

I understand the "Elo" algorithm is a factor, but I wouldn't think that the algorithm is so inaccurate that I can't get paired up with players of the same skill level 90% of the time. It may be because I main Support, who knows? I've already heard the lazy answer of "just get better" as an excuse. I've played many games with the player who was the #1 NA 3v3 ranked player last season, as well as a couple Diamond players and know for a fact that I support my adc very well. Sometimes enough so that I can roam to other lanes to help out. Still, I'm stuck in a limbo of players that don't have the same skill level. So I'm just curious if there's anything I can be doing differently... I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts.
