Rework After-Game Lobby Gifting System
We have all played either with or against a player in the past who made the game a better experience in some way. With the After-Game Lobby Gifting System we were given a method to reward these players ourselves and to encourage positive behavior in the future. However, there are flaws that are holding this system back from reaching it's maximum potential.
-
The cheapest item we can gift (other than classic skins for the champion that they played that game) is valued at 490 RP (~$3.75 calculated based on the $5 RP price). At almost $4 a pop, it would be rather difficult for most of us to go around gifting every player that we think deserves it. This makes receiving gifts rather unlikely and the incentive from the system is lost.
-
After a gift is received, the only way to show appreciation if you have left the lobby is to add the player as a friend and to have them accept. For the sender, this can result in your money being whisked away into the nether never to be seen again. While they may be left with the good-samaritan feeling, just like a real gift, a thank-you letter is appreciated.
Solutions:
-
Allow us to gift 50 RP (or something with similar value, such as Key Fragments (which would facilitate the decision of purchasing Hextech Chests from the store if the person now has an abundance of keys)). At only ~$.40 per gift, players could send gifts more freely and more often. While the value of the gift will be less, it is still the thought that counts.
-
Allow us to send thank-you letters back when we receive gifts. This will let us by-pass having to go through the process of adding them to our friends lists just to say thank-you.
I believe that these changes will create a more positive experience for everyone involved by getting more gifts, being able to send more gifts, and having other players act more positively from the increased incentive of the re-worked gifting system.
Extra notes on ARAM:
This could create an environment in the ARAM lobby where one person buys the skin boost for 95 RP every single game. The other players would then gift this player 50 RP. As long as at least 2 people sent gifts, the buyer would end up with more RP than what they started with, in addition to a skin boost, and the other players would get a skin boost, normally worth 95 RP, for only 50 RP. Everyone wins in this scenario and the flow of RP increases, which will increase the RP economy, which will result in more RP purchases.
