Why are so many people in love with Season 3?

I always see and hear people bring up Season 3 as some sort of Golden Age for League. Can anyone explain this to me?

I personally feel that Season 2 was when the game was most fun to watch and play.

Season 3 isn't so long ago that most players don't remember it, but is just long enough ago for the rose-colored glasses and nostalgia filters to turn on. It's at the right point where the majority of players remember the good points and forget the bad ones.

Mets was decided by the players not riot. It was not the tank, all ad, or all ap meta. It was more grab the champ you are best on and try to carry. It really focused on individual play.
