Why are so many people in love with Season 3?

I always see and hear people bring up Season 3 as some sort of Golden Age for League. Can anyone explain this to me?

I personally feel that Season 2 was when the game was most fun to watch and play.

Season 3 isn't so long ago that most players don't remember it, but is just long enough ago for the rose-colored glasses and nostalgia filters to turn on. It's at the right point where the majority of players remember the good points and forget the bad ones.

I like to think it is partly this and partly that most players joined in Season 3. In Season 1 the game was small. Season 2 saw rapid growth, but Season 3 was when it blew up around the world.

Mets was decided by the players not riot. It was not the tank, all ad, or all ap meta. It was more grab the champ you are best on and try to carry. It really focused on individual play.

Do not forget to include Nunu if you are mentioning Elise. Nunu and Elise were powerful at the very same time.

I remember Nunu being a popular support pick in S2. Didn't remember that he was big in S3.

He was. Him and Elise were the top 2 for a period in season 3. Jarvan IV, Lee Sin (big surprise) and Kha'zix were the ones I recall seeing the most in my games and snowballing hard.

There was also that time period where Kassadin was pick or ban around the time Yasuo came out. But I think that was preseason 4 when that happened. My memory is fuzzy. Too many rift walks to the head. Still suffering from the after shocks.

Lee Sin is one of the reasons I hated Season 3. Zed is another one.
