I'm sorry, but badges of honor are not doing anything.. Come on Riot, you can do better...

a tiny percentage of your community care about those silly badges.

a HUGE majority of your community is toxic.

You need to try harder, you can do it.

perhaps start giving RP in accordance with your honorable marks at end of game. you get 1 rp for every upvote you get.

Your current system is NOT working.

Riot has recently told us that working on improving the honour was put on a backburner for a bit to work on other things like leaverbuster... another reason why I think Riot's PB team needs to be recycled a bit. Their priorities are so wrong, they'd rather punish someone who has bad internet or family issues than reward people who make the playing experience better for others.

Overall it is not that so many people are toxic, the problem is just that even one toxic player among 10 leaves a big negative impression

The badges are certainly not helping much, but hey if it helps just a tiny bit, then that is already something positive. They are a first step, nothing more, nothing less.

Recently riot gave some players who behaved good an ip boost and I think stuff like that could really help(as well as the fact that they became harsher when it comes to banning people)

I tend to mute people with said badges because the pandering banter can get obnoxiously annoying.

I agree they could do more to motivate people to be nice, but RP for honor could be abused so easily. I think a badge should give you a special summoner icon or bonus IP or something small like that.

Are you familiar with the history of the Honor system? For those that might not be, here's a TLDR of how things progressed:

  • Honor System was released
  • Red and Green were way too easy to obtain, Blue and Yellow were very difficult to legitimately obtain
  • Since Honor has no checks or balances, rampant abuse occurred in trying to get blue/yellow Crests
  • This abuse made people completely reject the value of Crests, since it was actually pretty likely the higher tier Crests were cheated for
  • Riot decided to make it dramatically more difficult to obtain Crests
  • Getting Honor Crests is now almost impossible in non-bot game modes, even when abusing the system
  • Crests still have no value, because the majority of them are on Co-Op vs AI players

Fast forward a year, and here we are. Not only does Honor not incentivize the right behaviors, it is the easiest system in the entire game to abuse. The fact it's unreasonably difficult to obtain Crests now doesn't help either, because people don't even bother with them.

There are a ton of problems with Honor, but I don't want to write an essay about it.

The problem is this community is VERY toxic. badges will NOT fix it. what now?

I think the badges are cool. I just think it's also not worth trying to make your teammates like you every game.

People STILL wouldn't GIVE honor, and would whine and beg every game to RECIEVE it.

I am really proud of my badge, although a lot of people seem to have a negative attitude towards me because of this. Sometimes, when I say things like "Good luck & have fun" people are like "you only want to get honored". That's kinda sad but most people act cool and are funny. Someone asked me if I work for Riot cause they see the green badge so rarely :D
