Friend finishes Provisionals 5-5, gets put in Bronze V.
I finish mine 7-3, get put in Silver IV.
I find that kind of funny because we both finished season 4 in the same silver division.

I finished 6-4 and got put into Bronze 5. People with 3 wins are in Bronze 1. I don't get this system.

Same silver division being 5? Honestly though S5-S2 is almost all the same, a lot of inconsistency and shifting MMRs at that area. All my friends below silver 1 tend to hop up and down divisions like crazy. There's just not a large skill gap there so the MMR difference can be large at times. The sad part is most of them think they're well on their way to s1/g5 but it just never happens. The jump there is too big and they're generally repeatedly playing entirely wrong in one way or another and can't admit it.
There's the guys that kill and die too much making it hard on their teams, then they get paired with the guys that die too much and don't kill enough. Then there's the guys that can last hit like a boss but have 0 sense of objectives or teamwork. In S5-S2 there's always allllways one absolutely massive flaw in any given players style of play/abilities. This leads to the "elo hell" mentality, everyone can see what others are doing wrong and how absolutely horrible it is, but none can see what they or the teammates that make the same mistake as them are doing wrong.
Honestly if people want to move up best bet is to find the first player with a positive attitude that just sucks terribly and team with them til you figure out what they're doing that you aren't.
durrrr math is hard
