Riot just doesn't seem to get it
This game has finally gotten to the point of no return. Riot has destroyed this game so badly that it'll never be a fun & strategic game again. People have been talking about and complaining about damage creep in this game for years (thx ghostcrawler). There is WAAAAYYY too much overall damage and upfront burst damage in the game to begin with, which Riot knows is a problem with the fanbase. So what do we see in the latest patch? Amumu gets a free 15% bonus true damage passive for no reason.....Lux gets her ult cooldown refunded by 50% if it kills someone (which, when doesn't it?). Shit like this is why people say this game has gone into the toilet over the past few years. There is no justifiable reason for either of these changes! Just for the hell of it, that's it! More damage is not the answer to everything! Holy hell. Once Riot took wards out of the game, that's when i started to take a step back from playing. It wasn't justified with any good, logical reason. They did it b\c its not fun to watch teams fight for vision in pro games. Whoopdeedoo who gives a shit about the pro scene? Taking away the OPTION to ward was the dumbest thing I have ever seen Riot do........then again - dynamic queue. But they're starting to come close with some of the dumbass things I'm seeing lately. Strategy has been thrown out the window in favor of more & more needless damage. There was a time when putting the time in to learn the in's and out's of the game meant something, but now? All you need to do is pick any champion, build 6 damage items and go. Riot has turned this game into a chaotic mess...instead of the strategic and tactical game it once was. Look at Darius as an example. You used to have to make a choice in every game with him...tank or damage. One or the other. But after they reworked him, he gets to do BOTH at the same time b\c all he needs is 1 item that gives 40AD and he practically becomes an assassin with his damage. He can then afford to build 4 defensive items and be a super tank to go along with it. There's no choice here, there's no strategic decision here. You get to be both.....just because. I rarely play this game anymore because I do not agree with Riot's clueless balancing of the game, or the direction they've taken it. They change random things just for the sake of change. League will take the same route as any other game that doesn't listen to its fanbase and slowly die because of it. You literally don't need to learn anything anymore. Just pick a champion and do more damage than the other guy. EVERYTHING Riot does puts the emphasis on doing the most damage.
And because of the way Riot balances the game, people don't know how to properly play tanks and peel anymore. Along with other roles. I miss the days when people actually filled the role the team needed. Now you tell a teammate that the team needs a tank and they pick Zac....but they build runic echoes, rylai's, and liandry's on him instead of being a tank. Then he goes 2/12 and wonders why you lost. B\c of Riot's emphasis on everything being about how much damage you deal, that's all anyone cares about. Rarely see tanks in the top lane anymore. Rarely see legitimate supports anymore. Rarely see utility/tank/bruiser junglers anymore, and if you do...they're building glass cannon for damage. It's a full blown 6 item damage dealer in every role, in every game. That's not the game I learned to play. This version of LoL isn't fun.
The removal of wards have given junglers free reign to do whatever the hell they want all over the map, with nothing to hinder their ability to do so. Ever notice how the jungle role has been way too impactful for the past 2 seasons? Yea, it coincides with when wards were removed from the game. They could've at least given us the trinket system from season 4, that gave everyone the OPTION to ward if you wanted to do so. You could choose to spend 250g for a mini sightstone, or choose not to. You had the OPTION. But taking wards away entirely removes my OPTION to use vision to my advantage as a more knowledgeable player. Goodbye strategy of using vision to your advantage. Now all we get is a 45-60sec trinket every few minutes = Crap. The blue trinket is about as useless as it gets. You're lucky if it lasts more than 30 sec wherever you place it. So no vision from that either.
Ever wonder why it seems like players are feeding at a much higher rate than they used too? Just about every game I play, you can expect at least 2-3 people to feed terribly. Yea, that coincides with the removal of wards also. The lack of vision means ganks are fast, swift, and often. And unfortunately bad players are just that, bad players. They haven't adapted to the removal of vision. So they end up dying 6-10 times before the laning phase even ends. And unless you're a challenger player, you cannot climb a hill with a 500lb weight on your back. That's what it's like. Try playing ranked in Platinum elo when your mid lane Zed & Yasuo go 1/9 two games in a row. I can't win with players that don't understand the simple concept of playing smart and safe if your lane isn't going great. Again this goes back to the lack of focus on knowledge and strategy. It isn't emphasized by Riot anymore, so players don't use it. Ppl these days know one way to play and one way only.......be extremely aggressive (b\c muh damages) and hope it works out. That's a garbage strategy to use in ranked. You will lose way more than you win. But b\c all the emphasis is placed on doing damage, thats all anyone does. No one will play a tank cuz no damage #'s.....no one will play a legitimate support cuz no damage #'s. Remember when tanks in the top lane was the norm? It used to be that if my team had a tank in the top lane, and your team had Jayce in the top lane....my team would win 9/10 times. B\c damage didnt = wins. Having a proper team composition gave you the best chance to win. Welp now.......team composition doesnt matter at all b\c everyone is going to pick someone they can deal a bunch of damage with in every single role.
In it's current state, you might as well call this game League of Legends - Team Deathmatch Edition. THAT is what this game has become. Strategy does NOT = wins. Decision making does NOT = wins. ONLY damage = wins. It's just fight the other team repeatedly until there's nothing left to do but kill the nexus. Sounds like a crapper of a game to me, compared to what this game used to be. I'll be off playing DoTA 2, Smite, & HoTS.......where strategy and game knowledge still mean something. I can actually use things in the game to my advantage in those games. That's where Riot is losing it. Instead of leaving stuff in the game so that players have the OPTION to use it, they remove it completely. This means that players who know how to use these things to their advantage, can't anymore. So my game knowledge becomes more & more useless just because most players choose not to use these things. It isn't my problem if Joe Shmoe doesn't buy wards....that's his stupidity and his loss. But I shouldn't lose the ability to buy them b\c idiots like that are too stupid to use them. What's next? No more actives on items just b\c most players don't use them? Most players are low elo and don't understand the benefit of wards or active items. But why should I be penalized for them being bad?! All those players know is that spending 150g on 2 wards means that they wont get their next damage item as fast. Which again, points back to the emphasis on damage. I'm just waiting for the day when Riot removes all active item effects........b\c believe me, it's coming. One day soon
