You can use your lantern to gain vision inside a bush.

Your flay can interrupt mobility abilities.

Don't strictly use your hook to pick off an enemy champion. It can be used as an escape tool if you can hook onto a jungle monster over a wall.

If you walk out of the range of your thrown lantern it will come back to you automatically and shield you. It will glow for 3 seconds and if you can get close enough to an ally you can give give theme a shield that way too.

The lantern can harvest hard to reach souls.

Collecting souls scales your armor and your AP gains. They only show up if you are nearby so sometimes when they spawn they tip off the enemy of your presence.

thresh is a great support a lot of beginners underutilize his W (Dark Passage), it could help if one of your teammates are getting chased. Also collect souls, in order for you to stack your passive

Some minor things I've observed playing thresh.

You can use your lantern offensively. It gives a small area of vision if it's thrown into a brush. It's great mind games when you throw your lantern behind you to bring your jungler directly into the fight from beyond your turret. I've seen people back off at the threat that a fight might be more than they bargained for, even if there's no one there to take the lantern. Just make sure you know the enemy doesn't have vision if you do this.

The lantern does have a collision block and can block champions if for instance there's a fight in the middle of a minion wave. It's inconsistent and nothing to play around, but it's hilarious when it happens.

If you want to leave your enemies guessing where your hook will go, face away from your opponents when you cast it. There's nothing more obvious than a thresh walking up into poking range to try to hook you. Facing away will make it harder to telegraph where the hook will go.

An Ezreal can cancel a thresh hook's stun if he times his blink correctly, but you can still Q a second time to go to his position and flay him anyway.

The stun on thresh's hook has two parts. I call it the tug and hug. Thresh will pull on his hook twice, pulling his victim closer to him and lengthening the duration of the stun. For the best stun duration and the most displacement, you should wait for the second tug before hugging them and flaying.

Try to flay enemies into the walls of your ultimate. Most will simply flash over it.

E is the perfect nope ability to save either you or a teamate because it can stop lots of dashes like leonas E, jarvan EQ etc

allies can TP on your lantern, lee sin can jump to it etc so try these out in custom to know the potential of those two abilities to be the next madlife

start E for the increased auto damage dont use lantern just for the shield and remember you have a cast time on your hook

Generally be patient; there's times that you're more of a threat for not using your abilities. For example if you know they have someone that must rely on being undisturbed, save your hook or flay for when they try to setup.

I have 160k points on Thresh

  1. Smartcast every skill. Smartcasting lantern is optional
  2. Throw the lantern on somewhere the ADC might walk to
  3. In lower elos always position your hook to where the ADC might walk too.
  4. If you hook and then Q again you will fly into the enemy... sometimes when you want to start a fight. You q-q then e them back your ADC will get more autos off
  5. If you are against a Lucian or Graves type ADC once you get a hook off its best to use your ult then E after flying to them. 6.Your ult can be used as disengage. So if your getting ganked just pop it so that the jungler will have a hard time getting to your ADC.
  6. Flays stop practically all dashes except (via ult or malphite ultimate)
  7. Take ignite if you aren't against an assassin carry or a non soraka/sona lane take exhaust against burst mages and high speed bruisers (like udyr).
  8. Take thunderlords. Even decent ADCs position incorrectly so your auto- flay back auto will hurt a lot.

ADVANCED 10. If you hook someone you can cast your lantern so both a player and yourself will fly to a carry. 11. Lantern.. Flash E and if possible ult will set up easy ganks. Champions will fly to your flash 12. Against Ezreals, you face your hook to somewhere he might blink to. Mostly behind. 13. If you think that you are up against a competent ADC player, they will try to dodge the hook while walking forward. Keep this in mind. 14. Don't try to hook the alistar/braum/Leona without knowing how to flay correctly if they try to engage 15. Tanky CDR items works wonders for him. Utility thresh just gets blown up easily. 16. You don't need to follow up every time you hook.. you are not as tanky as Leona or Alistar
