Can someone explain ip if they know?

I usually don't check forums and stuff, so I wouldn't know if this has already been explained but what gives you ip in games? Because I played a Jayce game and went 3/3/6 with 10k gold. Another game I went Caitlyn and went 19/7/11 with 15k gold. In the Jayce game I earned 235 ip. In the Caitlyn game I earned 92 ip. I won both of these games with no surrender by the way. Soooo im not sure how this worked, ive always noticed this but im finally asking about it. Do you get more for more cs, more tower kills, inhibs, dragons, ect? Is it for having a long/short game? Is it random? Because it seems random to me. Another example is on ARAM Sejuani 13/14/15, 13k, 73 ip and Annie 18/16/15, 12k, 49 ip. Yeah these are ARAM but they seem pretty equal, I don't know. Any info on this subject will make me happy. :3 Thxx

Until recently, how well you do in a match was never a factor for anything, whether it be IP, LP, or MMR; only now with Mastery, you get more Mastery Points the better you do compared to others in your role on that champion.

You get more IP for your first win of the day (if you play continually, it resets every 20 hours or so, so it doesn't reset at 3 AM PST for example). That's why you got over 200 IP one game, and only 95 the next.

The amount you get is based on how long the game lasted, as well as whether you won or lost. Everyone on the team gets the same amount of IP if no IP boosts are active. KDA, cs and objective control shouldn't determine how much IP you get, but I haven't heard otherwise in a while.

Why did the downvote fairy have to visit your post? It's a good question.
