"You have to duo with someone between bronze and gold"

Well, the ranks just reset in OCE. Me and my friends just saw that the ranks have reset and we were really excited to do our placements together. I finished the season in Silver but I climbed to gold in preseason, and he was plat. Anyway, we try to queue up and he got a notification saying he had to duo with someone between Gold and Diamond and I got one saying I had to duo with someone between Bronze and Gold, so like, I'm guessing preseason stuff didn't count?
