@IronStylus - Can we talk?

Hi there,

Mainly addressing this to you IronStylus since I know you hate DG and don't really want to go back (I'm still adjusting to this beta/reddit forum). I'll put the truth and facts on the table. I don't particularly like you. I don't always like the way you react to things, nor do I always like the answers you give (for example, http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3955137, I'm sorry but it came out childish and rude).

BUT, in the saying that, can we please have a 'grown up' discussion about Harrowing and the total...scenario that's arisen, if you will. Kicking and screaming won't get us anywhere, and I can't promise that everyone will want to remain mature and keep a level head about things, but I, or we, as a community, want to ask you to TRY (damn no italics :c ). You can keep it short and sweet at first, and eventually ramp it up as more detailed and varied questions come in, but we'd like some answers, and we want them from you. The 'main' skin/art guy, according to most, and the person people tend to look up to as a positive figure despite your behavior sometimes (warranted or not).

I don't really know what to ask or where to start. So maybe if you could lay all your cards on the table for us, explaining the thought process behind the limited halloween skins and whatnot, and we can go from there?

Sorry if this puts you under pressure. But I've been playing LoL for over 2 years now, and I just don't want to see it go downhill. I feel like not only I, but we all deserve some kind of answer, response, discussion, etc about what's going on here.

Cheers.

I can't access that post as you've linked it unfortunately, so I'll take your word for it.

I stepped into that thread to give context on how Zyra is challenging to make skins for. Not to really engage on the pricing side of things. Actually, I have just about 0 context when it comes to the Harrowing and any policy, pricing, or event knowledge. I'm not the main art guy, I'm just one of the senior concept artists, and I'm currently on the Relaunch team.

I'm certainly glad to have a discussion, and indeed a civil one at that, but there's not much I can do aside from raising visibility internally that there seems to be some dissatisfaction over Harrowing content. I can take that message and see who I can deliver it to.

Aside from that, there's not much I can answer in terms of what was coming from that other thread.

yeah I saw the thread as well, and man, GD does bug me. I'll make sure to start post here for you. It just is hard to juggle two community sites.

Anywho. People complain about the lack of skins and the quality of Zyra as well. This is honestly a PR issue and it sucks. People see the final product and they see the number of skins. 2 skins and zyra is currently a skin that looks like a normal solid and good looking 975RP skin. IT IS GOOD. However like you say you don't set prices, and I assume that the price is set there because of the effort but no one knows the effort needed sadly. Thus you release a skin for the most annoying to reskin champion, and it takes up tons of resources so you can only make so much!

I can only speak for me, and if I actually liked zyra as a champion to play, I would %100 buy the skin, its cool. I might get it maybe just because its cool.

I think everyone has more of an issue with the people who set prices more than the art team because over time the art has becomes better by about a million percent.

I'm honestly looking forward to less for more and this is a prime example. I also realize that victorious elise probably took up time as well.

While I know you are a concept artist I'm glad you post progress and stuff from other departments because otherwise I'd not have known zyra was hard to make skins for.

Another major point is good ideas. Definately NOT Blitzcrank is one of my favorite skins and I love it more than any other blitz skin(yay that its coming back for other people to have, not just me). Its a pretty simple skin, but the idea is hilarious, I role play it all of the time. People will say "nice grab blitz" and I'll say "we don't have a blitz on our team." or "I'm playing steve from accounting as support". Its a great idea. On the flip side Spirit Guard Udyr was an amazing skin with really cool things and just tons of content. However the idea was pretty much just "super udyr" and while it was over the top well done, the idea was absolutely no different from his base model which is a sort of monk guy that channels animal spirits to do combat. A lot of people shunned it for that reason.

So yeah it sucks. Not everyone will ever get it though, and I think one thing Riot lacks is good community management and PR, pretty much I feel like this is what it all comes down to. Interesting to me, kind of sucky for the art team, sucky for the people who at least try to be noble community members, and bad for PR as forum goers are the loudest voice and spread their ideas to the satellite communities.

I wish I could help, but I'm not a rioter, so my voice means little. Sad times.

So yeah in this one case I think her price is actually justified, but it compounds the issue of amount of content to price being low to high.

I'll say this much, since content quality has gone up and numbers gone down, I've actually been more enticed to buy things, and I'm a tightwad when it comes to digital content.

OP, 90% of your post is nothing but you running your mouth, you could have summed this entire post up on a couple of sentences and set an example, But you didn't. also the Answers you asking for have already been giving and you could have found them if you took the time to look, but you didn't.

RIOT is the only company i know of that has actually staff members connecting directly with their community through the forums. We could really appreciate this, but we don't... for some reason.
