Why is Swain so underplayed?

I have been playing swain for about a week now mid lane hes currently in champ rotation and i have never seen a swain on a opposing team swain offers good harass in mid lane i laned against brand and won most of them. Swain has a really good kit Q to harass W to stun and E for poison and his ultimate which is very good for the healing it provides. All you need is to land the W stun then build from there . I use exhaust and Ignite as my summoner spells because most people tend to run when i pop that Q or Hit my stun i would also recommend buying spirit visage. For the health regen and spell vamp it provides. Thanks for taking your time to read this.

Short range, needs lots of items, poor mobility. He is still super fun to play though.

Swain can't barley do any damage if he is losing. now Hot mid line champion is Zed,Fizz,Ahri, and Orinna[maybe] They don't give U any chance to do damage. Their damage can be done and go away for 2s and you need about 5s with ult to do damage.

Well, spirit visage doesn't provide Spell Vamp, but I know what you mean :P

Anyway, he is underplayed because:

  1. Lacks mobility.
  2. His spells have short ranges (makes him better toplaner than mid IMO).
  3. His spells are all DoTs (except W). Players underestimate dots.
  4. His W is hard to land against competent opponent.
  5. He relies heavily on sustain from his ultimate. If it can be outdamaged (burst damage usually) or reduced (Ignite, Morellomonicon, Executioner's Calling (Haha, I'm so funny xD) or champion abilities with Grevious Wounds (Fizz W, Kata R, Tristana E etc.)) then he dies fast.

Also, while I do like using Exhaust and Ignite as a combo, you might need that extra mobility on Swain to escape or catch up (depending on enemy team it might be better to pick Ghost instead of Flash though). And both E and Q are good harassing tools, with E being the better choice for maxing first (pretty much regardless of situation) as it will deal more damage than Q (and will also make Q deal more damage, making it a big difference).

From a simple E->Q combo at level 9 you will have: 426 + 200% AP damage if you maxed E first and 411 + 189% AP damage if you maxed Q first.

It's because E damage amplification works on E itself, making it a better choice unless you REALLY need that slow to be bigger. Also, E damage cannot be interrupted unlike Q and it will increase damage from his W and R too, should you use them.

I have been playing swain lately and its been magical in top i have owned every single opponent i mean just look at my match history and K/D/A with him he is so under rated as a top champ diana felt so easy too. Just put a unholy grail(wonder drug) on him and your mana problems are fixed. Just cause he is mid-range does not stop him from being so good top and there is no problem with his Mobility for below reasons.

1: His Q has a slow of 20%. 2.W stun. 3.Just get flash. 4.Just use his ult to soak up damage as you run. 5.It wont hurt to get some boots.

It wont hurt me if riot buffs this champ you guys should not play him.

His last hitting isn't very good, and his play style is really only fun to a select few players. Anybody who isn't a fan of the whole slow-burning thing he has going on would likely get bored because it's not all just "stuff blowing up in a split-second" like most magi are.
