A (Friendly) Open Letter to Riot Games

Dearest Employees of Riot Games

First off I would like to say thank you, there there have been some growing pains with League of Legends over the many years, I can't say I have been over disappointed with the game. It has brought me closer to my family and I've made some wonderful friends in the community. Things have come and go that I miss (RIP Innervating Locket ). However I'm always curious were Riot is going with their changes, instead of hostility I'm met with excitement just to see how things work, be it a change in the game or something with lore, its always refreshing to see something new.

That being said, there is something that I'm concerned about, and from what I can tell many people have been lamenting the same issue. I know it may be trivial to some but I believe it has a bigger impact then you people, especially for community. Holiday events. I know, at face value they are trivial little things. But for some, the little holiday things that happen in our community of games be it from Steam, Blizzard, or Riot has a huge impact. A lot of us are older, many of us work, and work hard through the holidays. We don't always get to play with friends of family we don't always get to call home or spend time with them. So when we can get a little spooky thing here or there or festive events it means a lot to a lot of us.

Now don't get me wrong, I understand it has to be hard on Riot itself. It takes time, effort and more money then we, the general player base, can understand. Its not free or easy work. But its worth it. It lets people that generally wouldn't, or can't, celebrate their chosen holiday do so in a simple way. A lot of times with friends and/or family.

I know you're not taking them away, but moving them to different times so there is less time constraints on you guys, I understand this. But a spooky celebrating during spring doesn’t feel right, Chinese new years that doesn’t follow the lunar calendar is wonky and no one wants to deal with Christmas before December and certainly not after.

I don't know, I just feel like we're losing something by doing this new thing to the holidays. All in all please don't get me wrong, I still love what you're doing and I'm excited about the long events that circle around champions and places, I just feel we (League of Legends) will be missing something with out it.
