Ranked Rewrds

I'd been playing this season in the Gold V to Silver III range, after hitting Gold I thought the season reward would be for how high I climbed and not what I ended at. I remember last season this is how it went because while I may be incorrect, I'm fairly certain that I finished the season in about bronze ELO or LP whichever it was. I was aware of the season ending, but I didn't realize that rewards would be for what I ended on instead of the highest I was at. Is there anything that I can do or is that just tough luck?
