The Increase of Toxicity

I don't post on the forums terribly often, in fact I haven't posted on the Board system ever. As the topic suggests, this is about toxicity in the community. Now I have been playing for about three years now, and you get toxic players. They are, unfortunately, common. Typically, I roll with the punches. You can't really do much else but mute and report, and that system works, for the most part. But more and more recently it seems (especially in Ranked) that there are more and more negative, berating, toxic, aggressive, and hostile individuals. I understand, of course, that Ranked play has more of these people. It's a competitive environment, competition inherently breeds some level of negativity when losing. But I enjoy the competition, that's why I play. But last game made me truly wonder why I actually bothered to play ranked. I played a Rek'sai game, against a Nunu jungle. Now, this is typically not a good idea. But, the bans were on my preferred champions for jungling, and I was kind of forced into the role and had to choose. I was operating on the bet of perhaps Nunu wasn't a good Nunu. Unsurprisingly, I was counterjungled. My allied Zed immediately went off on me. I ignored this, moved on. Nunu continued his counterjungle crusade against me, so I requested help from Zed who was nearby. Promptly ignored, I tried to flee, only to die to the enemy Lissandra. I won't go into anymore detail on the game, but after this it was a downward spiral. Now, I can handle one or two toxic people, but by the end of the game, my entire team was raging at me, calling for reports (bear in mind I ended the game 1-5-1) and even three people on the enemy team were verbally attacking me. I have never once dealt with this level of overwhelming toxicity. So my point, I suppose, is why the increase in toxic individuals of late? Am I just some unlucky soul who gets these games often? Either way, the level of cruelty and contempt these players are exhibiting is disheartening and demoralizing. My two cents.

Summer time. I've also noticed since May I've seen the amount of ragers and trolls double.
