@RIOT Key Fragment Droprate

After one nearly complete season, I have earned 41 chests. I have 10 unopened chests due to lack of key fragments. I have never bought any chests or fragments.

I need 30 more key fragments... 30!

I play in premades often and would consider myself a frequent player. (~25 games a week) Yet I am still short so many key fragments! I understand that the drop-rate varies throughout any 30 day period. But after 1 full season, I think it may be worth reviewing the balance of the drop rate vs chest earning rate.

It may be worth noting that, in looking for Riot-documented information on Key Drops I came across a documented bug preventing earning key fragments on Free-to-Play champions. This has been going on so long, I hadn't even realized this is a bug. When will this be fixed?

The drop rate for key fragments is a curve, not a line. With each fragment you earn, the chance to earn your next one goes down slightly. This number resets roughly every thirty days after you earn your first key fragment. We wanted to give players who didn't play as frequently a good drop rate for keys, without making it feel like farming was mandatory if you wanted keys. Note: There's currently a bug which prevents you from earning key fragments if you're playing a champion you don't own. This is unintended, and we're working on a solution.
