This community is so bad it hurts

How on earth has this been able to go on for so long? Why must their be one rager and one feeder per team? Looking for some serious answers from Riot or anyone as a matter of fact. I can't even convince people to just be nice and play the game. The way that people talk to each other on this game is ridiculous. In the last game i played for instance, my friend was getting raged at by someone on our team, and then that someone said "I hope your mom dies from cancer" and I'm going to go ahead and say that's one of the nicer things I've seen people say. This CANNOT go on. Please, as a community, can we try to be a little better?

sincerely,

Dear a concerned summoner,

While I do not condone the behavior of these individuals, I must inform you that as a player of this game you WILL often encounter trolls and/or ragers. You also cannot convince these individuals to be nicer, mainly because they enjoy being obnoxious and insulting more than the game itself. As to why people do it, I can't say. If it really bothers you as much as you say, the only thing you can do is either ignore it, or uninstall league of legends. There are LoL alternatives such as Dota 2 or Smite, but I cannot promise that they will be 100% friendly. And while there are cool, fun people on this game, League as a whole is infamous for its hyper-toxic community. So what you choose to do next is yours, but you cannot blame Riot or other community members for the actions of individuals.

P.S. unless unintentional, your typical "feeder" probably feels bad enough for making mistakes, and doesn't need anyone else's blame or input.

Sincerely,

   -Another Concerned Summoner

This likely one of the only downfalls of league of legends. It is unfortunate, but one suggestion I have is to never feed into these players by giving them any emotional response, don't get worked up. The big problem with most of the rager is their lack of self-responsibility they take for their actions, they can point out others flaws, but fail to see their own. Theirs not much you can do about the troll or rager or the troll rager, but try to cooperate with the teammates that are trying.

One suggestion for the tribunal is to make it more accessible, put it right in the game. I don't know if personally I care for the 'rewards' when I use the tribunal. However it does give incentive to use the tribunal.

Wow, Okay....

First off, You there! bludclaut, That system you have suggested, it sound's nice, however one small flaw...If someone on the team is doing poorly, and in all honesty they are trying they're BEST to get better, but the team decides, "Vote off the Island" Tell me which of the below would that make you feel if that happened to you?

(A) Feel encouraged to continue Playing

(B) Seek out revenge and do it upon someone else

(C) Feel rejected and contemplate not playing anymore, Uninstall

(D) Personal Alternative, Explain.

People, This game will always have Toxic players, I myself use to be VERY toxic, VERY! it was not until Tribunal warned me and gave me a 5 Game chat restriction to show that big brother is watching. Should it take a punishment to change? No, I was wrong in all aspects. However, I started right, and slowly became toxic because there was no one there to motivate me otherwise, due to my own lacking. However, I decided to throw that part away, sure it crawls out slowly, but when I realize that it's coming out, I Mute Players. Pings still work from Muted players, continue playing the game and enjoy it.

Smite for example does not have "All" Chat, You can only chat to your team-mates and yet you can also ignore them. The Ability of All chat can become VERY toxic sometimes to certain people, not everyone, just certain. So, A11FATHER, You and your friend may just need to mute everyone on the team for a short awhile, JUST to get your aspects back in line, then unmute, as you start to see negative players, and after a chance of being friendly disposition to them, if they continue, Mute them right away, no questions asked. If you see the enemy team Gloating and taunting, Mute them, take ALL chat away. You do not need to know what the enemy is saying at all, so please, Mute, Mute, Mute!! it will be your Ally against Toxic Players.

For People who go AFK, You cannot change or help this, It's been stressed to Riot many of times to replace them with an AI, problem with doing that it would not be a pure PVP Environment as the game states. It would then be something else, because an AI is on your team, it is no longer Player Vs Player. =( Sorry folks, just take the loss or strive harder for victory with teamwork and encouragement. It can be done, 3v3 or 5v5, I've seen it done. rare, but possible.

Anyways, that's all I got on this matter, I'm sure some of what I said would be targeted, Just remember to keep it clean and constructive. =) Good luck and Have fun Summoners.

I agree with "KillAgain121". It is simply a price of "Free To Play Game" which anyone can install and do whatever they want. Unfortunately,it is the way it is. If you really like League,I'd recommend you watch some of "gbay99" videos on youtube, about controlling your own rage, and enduring other trolls. It helped, me atleast.

Ive been pondering on this, lets call it "anti-trolling system" which would work similar to the surrender feature in game. The way it would work is with a 4/0 vote from your team remove the "troll" or possibly any AFKs from the game and replace him/her with an AI. I am aware the AI may or may not be the best replacement but in situations where someone is trolling, feeding or refusing to co-operate with the team an AI might be the solution. Shoot your replies on what you think and if this should even be considered. I agree with this discussion in general, in that I'm tired of having individuals on either team causing enough of a fuss that they ruin the game for the remainder of the 9 players. I feel that the reporting system isn't harsh enough and it doesn't enforce friendly play enough that these individuals continue to do what they are doing. This is just a suggestion that I hope Riot sees with all the other comments in this discussion that something needs to be done.

I wholeheartedly sympathize with you in the fact that there can be some serious rage and toxicity in the League community. Although it does not seem like it, regularly toxic people are actually an incredibly small % of the total playerbase, the majority of toxic players people encounter are usually alright or at the very least quiet players who have been having a bad string of games or just a bad IRL day. Which can easily cause a bad mood in everyone they've been playing with causing more badgames, like a virus. :(

The best and easiest way to fix it is to wake up the other 90% of the community who are not toxic and in fact almost always positive in small ways to go the extra mile to make sure even if your team is losing to keep a good mood and stop toxic behavior before it starts. It only takes 1 ass hat to ruin a game, but 5 or more positive players to have an awesome game. It will always be an uphill battle for positive players, but that's the case in anything really.

I challenge anyone reading this to be a driving force of good sportsmanship in their next game.

I'm surely not saying that what they are doing is right, but the community itself is forcing people to become jerks. From the start of your lol career to now 9/10 times you were made fun of or in some way verbally abused. This starts a chain reaction where the victim becomes the victimizer. Most of the time these people were treated poorly when making a mistake which makes it even worse for the person.

this has actually been a concern for me, when i started and even now when i play vs AI the community is a bit better then that most of the time but once you go PVP the community can get toxic. i have reported more then a few players. all i can say is that at some point i will hopefully be of the level that i can join the tribunal and make judgement on some of these people and do my part to help clean up the community from these toxic players.

I can totally relate. Friend me sometime. What we need to do is find people that just want to have fun and learn. Mistakes are ok, there is no other way to get better and what we need to do is support and give helpful recommendations instead of ragging on someone for mistakes and lack of experience. That is what 'normal' games are all about in my opinion. If someone is so good that they never make mistakes then they should go to ranked or turn pro. Once raging starts in a game it usually snowballs and makes the person being raged on make more mistakes. I have never been in a winning game where this happened. I am still fairly new and get stomped by players better then me a lot, but I ignore the raging, and feel that I improve with every game, every mistake I make. I refuse to let others take the fun out of the game for me. What would be great is to get a larger circle of friends that feel the same as I do, and if we win a game we can celebrate together, if we lose, we learn together.

Anyway, I will get off my soapbox now. I am usually on most evenings after 8pm eastern, and off and on over the weekends. Anyone who just wants to have fun can friend me.

This is a very true concern

And a lot of the trollers and feeders don't care that much. Part of it is due to the fact that LoL is free to play, and if they get banned, they can create a new account easily (usually people who spend RP don't troll as much)

I don't want this game not be free, but I guess free games come with a poor community sadly.

I can relate.

For starters, let the new players play beginners level by themselves, no level 30 please or put some restrictions, this will lower the rage and significantly enhances beginner player's experience

Chewbacca Merkin1/16/2014, 8:25:32 AM1 votes

Maybe ragers are tired of playing with rtards? :)
